The Holtalanders is a story cycle is set in the Viking era and follows the inhabitants of Holta Island. Where many works of Viking fiction focus on the seafaring warrior that defines the epoch, The Holtalanders is concerned with the folks found in the margins of the sagas: women, slaves, eunuchs, misfits, children and the elderly. Beyond the raiding and pillaging for which they are known, beyond the longships and the erroneous horned helmets, those living during the Norse medieval age were subsistence-level farmers and fishermen tied to the cycles of nature. This is a collection of short stories about social injustices impacting the autistic community and how Catholic Social Teaching supports a more just approach. It is written from an autistic perspective and informed by the stories of people who are actually autistic. Each story is followed by an analysis that explains the choices made, which are backed by both research and the experiences of the autistic writer and the autistic community. This collection also includes information on how justice can be attained on the individual level by allies and on the institutional level by organizations.

“The Fourth Wall” is the beginning of a fiction novel set in the comedy scene in Lincoln, NE during the #MeToo movement. The story follows a young female comedian in the scene, Kara, from the perspectives of several significant people in her life. Though the novel never inhabits Kara’s perspective directly, it seeks to give readers an intimate look at the difficulty she faces as she tries to navigate the male-dominated world of stand-up comedy during a time when the community is being forced to confront its troubling history of sweeping reports of sexual violence under the rug.
