Danish-American ethnicity has traditionally been studied by examining the literature, religion, social and educational institutions, and business enterprises of Danes in America. In general researchers have looked to Fine Arts and Culture to understand the Danish ethnic identity. But examining only Culture and Art yields an incomplete understanding of culture and art. Danish ethnic culture in America consists primarily of the non-elitist traditions and arts of individuals' everyday lives rather than the contributions of the elite, and the discipline of folklore can provide a more complete concept of Danish heritage. Pre and Postsynaptic receptors were long suspected of acting upon the brain in relation to such processes as negative feedback of neurochemical secretion, alterations in sensory detection and recognition thresholds and changes in mood and affective state. However, the ability to measure and characterize pre and postsynaptic receptors in brain and to identify sites of hormone action in relation to behavioral and neuroendocrine effects of these hormones has progressed incrementally over the past twenty years. The vast changes in population distribution patterns that have taken place during the past two decades resulted in a rural demographic revival. Previously the trend throughout most of the twentieth century had been a steady increase in population rates from rural to urban areas. Then the situation began to reverse during the late sixties. When Tropic of Cancer was published in Czechoslovakia in 1938, a working drawing from Bonheur de vivre by Henri Matisse appeared on the cover. While the choice of illustration certainly reflects the admiration for Matisse's work that Henry Miller expresses within the novel, Miller's interest in Matisse as an artist also reveals much about the novelist's aesthetics.

Exhibit Catalogues

This exhibition encompasses artists from four states which area in the heart of the wester United States. Except for the subject matter of some of the prints, one would find it difficult to define this group of works as having some shared regional aesthetic. Indeed, quite the opposite is the case. The works demonstrate that the artists are part of a national, if not international, printmaking world which is characterized by individuality in the choices of style, media, and subject matter. Visual heterogeneity dominates the works. Their westernness is, simply, a factor of a geopolitical reality, not artistic criteria.

In the last two decades we have seen a radical change in people’s attitudes, beliefs, values, national policy, and knowledge regarding the natural environment—something that most people had previously taken for granted. The first Earth Day (April 22, 1970), is generally taken to represent the beginnings of a concerted environmental movement and the corresponding upswing of public attitude and concern for the natural environment. This rise in interest follows the civil rights movement of the early 1960s and the anti-war movement of the mid to late 1960s and early 1970s. The purpose of this investigation is to complete research on dual earner families. The focus is to ascertain if a relationship may be found between marital adjustment and the agreement on division of household tasks within a dual earner marriage. This study asks several important questions. First, in dual earner families, is marital adjustment related to sharing household responsibilities, or to agreement on task division (i.e. equitability vs. complementary agreement)? Second, is there a difference between stated attitudes and experienced behaviors in the division of household tasks, and might this contribute to marital adjustment (i.e. ideal vs. real)? Fresno, California, is a moderately large city located in the heart of the rich fertile area of the San Joaquin Valley. The city is geographically situated midway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Ranked 8th among California cities, Fresno's population is approximately 265,000. There is a relatively large number of minorities who reside in Fresno, particularly the Chicano population, and with rapidly changing demographics, the future ethnic composition of Fresno is expected to change. For example, in 1970, 29,880 Chicanos (18.0% of the Fresno population) and 15,875 Blacks (9.6%) lived in Fresno. In 1980, however, the numbers substantially increased for …
