This chapter explores how religious practices and identities intersect with the home as both a construct and physical locale and surveys the social science literature on religion in/and the home. We argue that the shifting space-times of religious practice reflect and influence the changeable and porous boundaries between public and private space, the home and beyond the home. This influence is shown by reference to three areas of focus: the home as a private space of and for religion; the use of religion to cross social and spatial boundaries of home; and the reconfiguration of the home in religious practice …

It is tempting to treat the United States’ ill-fated military intervention in Vietnam in the 1960s as the desperate final gasp of a moribund Western imperial system. Certainly, scholars have described Washington’s military debacle in Vietnam as the end of America’s “short-lived empire” in Southeast Asia, emblematic of the broader, decisive triumph of Southeast Asian nationalism over western colonialism. This reading of Southeast Asian countries attaining formal independence after 1945, with tacit assumptions that colonialism and nationalism exist in binary opposition, tends to ossify when the region’s history is viewed through the lens of U.S. defeat in Vietnam.

Generally file formats on modern systems are single byte streams, and there are many tools available to help identify and determine what software is needed to make use of the format. When dealing with formats born on Macintosh systems, a single byte stream is often not all that is needed to make use of the formats. On older Macintosh systems a Type/Creator code and a resource fork are often needed, and on more modern systems there are other challenges that need to be addressed. The Lender Center for Social Justice

Syracuse Futures (SF) is a research initiative aimed at strengthening arts and humanities infrastructures in historically marginalized communities in Syracuse. Led by Syracuse University’s Engaged Humanities Network (EHN), SF partners with local organizations to provide mentorship, enrichment programming, and career support through an adaptive digital portfolio system. The project addresses inequities in arts and civic education, particularly in Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and immigrant communities, by integrating university resources with community-led initiatives. SF programs, including Creative Art Lab, Breedlove Readers, and Photography & Literacy (PAL), foster creative expression, leadership, and literacy. Sally Walton's Will: Reuniting The Andrews Families Of Western Maine And Beyond, Kathrine C. Aydelott

This article demonstrates how the 1871 probate file of Sally (Andrews) (Andrews) (Clark) Walton of Paris, Maine, resolves decades of genealogical confusion among Andrews families of western Maine. Analysis of her will, codicils, and probate accountings reconstructs a fragmented sibling group and definitively distinguishes two men named Perez Andrews whose identities had long been conflated. The evidence firmly links Darius Andrews of Sumner, Perez Andrews of Buckfield and Penobscot County, and several previously untraced Andrews siblings to a single parental family headed by Ebenezer Andrews Jr. and Sarah (Elliot) Andrews. Femtoring Book Club: Turning Pages, Uplifting Latinas, Heather A. Hathaway Miranda

Amid the social isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic, I initiated Learn, Laugh, Lead, and Self-Love, a virtual femtoring program designed for Latina women aged 19 to 25. This weekly space incorporated interactive elements such as icebreakers, creative responses to visual art, and intentional community-building practices to cultivate trust and solidarity. After one year, the virtual gatherings transitioned into a monthly femtoring book club for women of color, launching with The Four Agreements and centering themes of gratitude, affirmation, and the reflective practice of sharing tunas and espinas© (joys and challenges). Parker examines the transformative potential of social capital brokering within the higher education system, particularly for communities that have been systematically excluded through opportunity hoarding and network closures both historically and presently. Institutions of learning have long served as sites for the transmission of instrumental (tangible) and expressive (emotional) social capital returns. To make it through my final year of my doctoral degree, I had to focus on my research more and my mom less. I had spent most of my life worrying and caring for my mom through her mental health struggles. In September 2017, my mom ended her life. Often, Black women find themselves torn between maintaining peace and being themselves. The poem addresses concepts such as tone policing, code-switching, and expression.
