Audio Dramas As Self-Expression For Marginalized Identities, Athena Towne
Audio Dramas As Self-Expression For Marginalized Identities, Athena Towne
Honors Projects
Fiction podcasts, also knows as Audio Dramas, often afford a level of creative freedom to potential creators that is not seen in other popular media. This is seen explicitly through the marginalized representation that popular works in the medium allow. This work seeks to explore why the medium allows for such stories to flourish, as well as how these stories are received. Then, to test this theory, this paper documents the process of creating an audio drama, from conception to completion.

The Bengali Oil-Eaters: A Speculative Approach To New Materialism And The Nonhuman In Contemporary Petrofiction, Jenna Wayland
The Bengali Oil-Eaters: A Speculative Approach To New Materialism And The Nonhuman In Contemporary Petrofiction, Jenna Wayland
Honors Projects
Despite oil’s heavy saturation within the context of contemporary global life, novelistic registrations of oil frontiers and extractive drilling in contemporary world literature remain proportionally barren with regards to oil’s political and geographical importance across the world-system. Petro-cultural production, transnational in scale and imposing in material basis, relegates oil to a paradoxical literary deferment. The general invisibility of petrofiction within the petro-sphere suggests that the materialist basis of petroleum and its fraught geopolitical history has culturally transformed oil into a repressed, peripheral, and hidden material that subsequently renders the oil-encounter unseen in contemporary literature. This creative synthesis of the oil-encounter …

Bulletin of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Chinese Version)
Known as the "pillar scientist" and "general of distinguished scientists" in the Chinese engineering science community, ZHU Guangya was an outstanding strategic scientist and engineering master who had made outstanding contributions to China's science and technology. Ethical Considerations In Using Generative Ai In Writing Studies Research, Shiva Mainaly
Ethical Considerations In Using Generative Ai In Writing Studies Research, Shiva Mainaly
Georgia International Conference on Information Literacy
If an AI system like ChatGPT generates text used in a research paper, proper attribution, and delineation of human-written vs. AI-generated text is essential. Research has suggested that many readers cannot reliably distinguish between human and AI writing. Failing to attribute AI writing could constitute plagiarism (Dobrin, 2023). Guidelines need to be established. Similarly, if ChatGPT is used to analyze sensitive interviews or user data from research study participants, appropriate consent, privacy protections, and data security controls must be implemented. Researchers should be transparent about any AI analysis or exposure of protected participant data. On the heels of this comes …
Design Students’ Perspectives On Safety Concerns When Designing Future Tourism Services, Minna Virkkula, Laura Hokkanen, Jonna Häkkilä
Design Students’ Perspectives On Safety Concerns When Designing Future Tourism Services, Minna Virkkula, Laura Hokkanen, Jonna Häkkilä
GSTC Academic Symposium - In conjunction with the GSTC Global Conference
The safety of services is essential part of a company's social responsibility. In the tourism industry, ensuring the safety of services is crucial, but often overlooked in the design process. Incorporating safety aspects during the initial design phase can eliminate potential safety issues and improve quality of the services. By addressing safety concerns early on, unnecessary worries related to activities and services can be resolved. This paper examines the design perspective on safety in Lapland outdoor activities. Two studies were conducted with art and design students, including an online survey to identify safety concerns in various tourist scenarios, and a …
A Collaborative Approach To Exploring Generative Ai With Undergraduate English Students, Chrissy O'Grady
A Collaborative Approach To Exploring Generative Ai With Undergraduate English Students, Chrissy O'Grady
Georgia International Conference on Information Literacy
How can librarians support students in exploring the use of generative AI to aid in the research process? This presentation will discuss a partnership between an academic librarian and an English faculty at a comprehensive state university in fall 2023 and spring 2024. In two sections of a 300-level major English course, students are required to use generative AI for an assignment. The collaboration consists of two information literacy sessions that utilize scaffolded activities. The first session focuses on students using generative AI to aid in their research process. We discuss their experiences using generative AI tools, develop an understanding …
