Theodor Eicke And His Contributions To The Nazi Party: An Essay On The Development Of The Nazi Concentration Camp System And Ss-Totenkopfdivision, Erin Jackson

This project will focus on Theodor Eicke, and how he shaped the Nazi Party. Eicke is responsible for many key identifiers of the Nazi Party: the concentration camp system, the punishment system within concentration camps, the usage of prisoner labor, Shutzstaffel [SS] formations and indoctrinations, and other organizational schemes of the Nazi Party. This essay will examine Eicke’s background and his contributions to the Nazi Party as Dachau Camp Comandante, Camp Inspectorate, and Commander of the Waffen-SS Death Head Division, and how each of these components contributed to greater Nazi violence and the Final Solution.

Culture/Capital A Speculative Consideration Of James Joyce's Ulysses, Audrey Del Grosso

West Chester University Master’s Theses

This thesis explores how a speculative consideration of James Joyce’s novel Ulysses that combines postcolonial and Marxist and theoretical perspectives can challenge traditional critical approaches that are dogmatically one-sided. Three episodes of the work are analyzed to demonstrate the relationship between culture and economics, which aligns with the above-mentioned theoretical approaches.

The selected episodes -- “Telemachus” (episode 1), “Nestor” (episode 2), and “Scylla and Charybdis” (episode 9) -- focus on Stephen Dedalus and provide the opportunity to consider the manifestation of colonialism and imperialism in his various relationships.

During the spring of 2020 through the spring of 2021 of the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the courses at the Florida State University College of Law were moved to Zoom in order to be taught remotely. This transition was painful and inadequate for many of the traditional-style law school courses. However, FSU's International Trade Transactions course, which has operated around a digitized transactional world for twenty years, smoothly transitioned to remote learning. Through the evaluation and comparison of Machiavellian, Nietzschean, and Christian political thought, this thesis argues that Christian thinkers effectively meet the challenges posed to them by Modern philosophers. Modern philosophers reject the teaching that ethical principles have a transcendent origin in God and instead believe that morality is merely a matter of human convention. Christian philosophy was once dominant in influencing political thought. Modern thinkers such as Machiavelli and Nietzsche wrote with the express purpose of challenging and replacing Christian thought. The Christian political tradition promotes more noble qualities in leaders than the modern philosophies which proposed to challenge it. …

We Are Having This Conversation Now offers a history, present, and future of AIDS through thirteen short conversations between Alexandra Juhasz and Theodore Kerr, scholars deeply embedded in HIV responses. They establish multiple timelines of the epidemic, offering six foundational periodizations of AIDS culture, tracing how attention to the crisis has waxed and waned from the 1980s to the present. They begin the book with a 1990 educational video produced by a Black health collective, using it to consider organizing intersectionally, theories of videotape, empowerment movements, and memorialization. Taiwan can be found about 100 miles off the southeastern coast of China in the Pacific Ocean. It consists of a main island and many smaller surrounding islands. Before the arrival of the Dutch, the only inhabitants of the island were the Taiwanese indigenous peoples, also known as the Formosan people, Austronesian Taiwanese people, or Gaoshan people, who had been there for thousands of years. For consistency, throughout this paper, I will refer to them as Taiwanese indigenous peoples. The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), or North Korea, has proven to be a stumping issue for policymaker and academic alike. Dubbed “The Impossible State” by Victor Cha (2012) and the quintessential “Hard Target” by Haggard and Noland (2017), North Korea’s unique mix of autarkic authoritarianism, stubbornly resilient socialist system, and burgeoning nuclear capability, all situated in perhaps the most geopolitically fraught region in the modern world, has led journalists, academics, policymakers, and even thrill-seekers (think Dennis Rodman) to try to understand this enigmatic, what Lankov (2013) calls, “political fossil.” Within the myriad issues presented by North Korea, two …

This paper focuses on preliminary findings from a study that asked students and alumni to share their stories around teamwork and communication in engineering settings. In addition to student and alumni stories of teamwork, engineering faculty were interviewed to learn more about how they approach collaborative and communication-based projects and how consider diversity, equity, and inclusion in their teaching. The goal was to connect the ways that instructors frame these collaborative projects and to surface how implicit biases may emerge and impact students. Alternative text is a necessary part of the document design process that often becomes relegated to the work of web developers as part of the coding and tagging of digital documents for accessibility. However, alt-text is a meaning making tool that should be a normalized part of TPC document design practices. This paper uses preliminary interview data with screen reader users to understand the complex rhetorical experience of alt-text use in an effort to offer more effective alt-text investigation and practices in order to develop more inclusive environments that welcome all users.

The importance of published accounts by African slave ship survivors is well-known but not their existence in large numbers. Fogleman and Hanserd catalog nearly five hundred discrete accounts and more than 2,500 printings of them over four centuries in numerous Atlantic languages. Short biographies of each African, print histories of the complete or partial life story. Five Hundred African Voices an invaluable resource for scholars, teachers, students, and others wishing to study transatlantic slavery using African Voices.

Life Before Birth: A Thematic Analysis Of Memories Of Coming Into Life Part 1: Recollections Of Another Realm, Jenny Wade

International Journal of Transpersonal Studies

Autobiographic memories prior to birth remain controversial in psychology because such memories are traditionally believed to begin much later when some sense of self is formed. Prenatal sentience, including fetal learning, occurs in species from arthropods to humans, and evidence for autobiographic memories from pre- and neo-natal humans has typically come from clinical case histories of altered-state regression techniques eliciting records from adults or clinical case histories of children in normal states.
