In legal language, damage is money paid to a plaintiff for injuries or losses suffered. It is possible that the impact of damage could extend to others who are associated or linked to the injured party and this is called ‘consequential damage’. In this specific case, the damage must be proven to be a direct and immediate consequence of the relevant fault. In fact, consequential damage is a direct harm to the other injured party. The Metonymic Functions Of The Verb Fa?Ala In The Holy Qur’An, Abdul Gabbar Al-Sharafi

This study builds on an observation that the verb fa?ala in Arabic, which means ‘do’, is essentially metonymic; it can refer to any transitive or intransitive verb in the language. This referential function is paradigmatic in nature and has been mentioned by classical Arab grammarians, hence their choice of this verb as the template or pattern on which all action verbs are formulated and modulated. The study proceeds from this basic observation to propose another type of referential function of the verb fa?ala, which is syntagmatic in nature: the cohesive function. This study examines the underlying principles that trigger decisions in translating the polysystem translation theory into contemporary Arabic. The data comprises an English summary in Munday (2001) and its Arabic version. The methodology draws on the ‘memes’ notion and its application to translation. It consists in deconstructing the polysystem theory-meme so as to see why TT has been shaped the way it is. The study aims to explore the perspectives of Omani viewers on the role of Omani mass media in the political socialization process. The study uses a questionnaire with a sample of 300 respondents, divided into six categories: academics, members of the Council of Oman, media specialists, administrators in the public and private sectors, political and military leaders, and university students. The present study aims at exploring the interests of the male and female Omani youth enrolled in Sultan Qaboos University, and the obstacles that hamper the fulfillment of these interests. The study sample consists of 562 students (127 males, and 435 females). 356 of the male and female students are enrolled in Humanities Colleges , while 206 male and female students are enrolled in the Science Colleges. This study aims to identify the characteristics of the editorial and advertisement content of the Omani Arabic dailies front page. It explores the characteristics and attitudes of front page editors and journalists. The study adopts a media survey methodology and uses content analysis in addition to the unstructured interview to study both the editorial and advertisement contents. The study also studies the nature of the editorial policies affecting content published in the front page of the newspapers in question. Analysis of a sample of pages shows how these networks helped people exchange information before, during and after the 18 days revolution which ended the reign of former president - Hosni Mubarak.
