From Camp Jefferson, Ohio, he thanks his family for supplies but adamantly dispels rumors that his regiment and others lack food. He notes recruiting efforts and speculates on the length of the war, which he defies England (“John Bull”) to enter on the Confederate side. From Bowling Green, Kentucky, he expresses doubt that peace is near and refers to meeting family friends in the town.

In this keynote address from the 2014 SCLA conference in Columbia, Ed Madden discusses the legislative responses to the use of his book, Out Loud: The Best of Rainbow Radio, as the common reading at USC Upstate in the fall of 2013. Along with Fun Home, used as a common reading at the College of Charleston, Out Loud was attacked by South Carolina legislators who objecting to gay and lesbian subject matter in common reading programs. Madden explores the idea of "dangerous" books.

FAMILY AFFAIRS was a free, twice-a-month, social activities newsletter for the GLBTQI (gay/lesbian/bisexual/trans/queer/intersex) community, sent out around the 1st and 15th of each month. It covered the State of Maine only. The list was begun and maintained for many years by Jean Vermette in Bangor, and later operated by Zack Paakkonen of Portland. Over the years it evolved from a social activities newsletter into a business directory, classified ad service, and community bulletin board.

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Small Collection 2914. Form letter soliciting funds for the Zachary Taylor Memorial Lane Committee of the Outdoor Art League of Louisville. The letter, from committee chairman Mrs. Charles D. Greer, laments the neglect of the tomb of President Zachary Taylor near Louisville, Kentucky, and outlines the Committee’s intent to construct an entrance to a “Memorial Lane” leading from Brownsboro Road to the monument at the cemetery in which Taylor is interred.

Includes a rendering of the proposed entrance.

Tuttle, serving with the 36th Massachusetts Infantry near Nicholasville, Kentucky, to his wife. He describes his work with an ambulance corps and the location of some of his wounded and sick comrades, and expresses pessimism about his chances of visiting home. He also complains about his treatment in the corps, which included an accusation of smuggling. Historical geography focuses upon those relationships which have shaped the evolution of place and landscape over time. One fundamental approach used to achieve this objective is the set of theories associated with spatial diffusion. This includes the spatial and chronological paths, the periodicities and rates of spread, as well as the identification of areas of void or avoidance. An emerging trend in historical geography is the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In the ever-evolving landscape of China's education system, the gap between the rural and urban was always an important issue, not only the multifaceted interplay of parental involvement, student self-engagement, and academic performance. This study utilized a comprehensive national survey dataset through a thorough understanding of cultural nuances and educational intricacies specific to the Chinese context. Its aim was not only to decipher the underlying constructs of parental involvement and student self-engagement but also to investigate how these factors impacted academic achievement among students. This paper investigates a practical and systematic directing approach for up-and-coming directors in Kuala Lumpur who may not have the time and resources to attend graduate school. This approach was constructed from production practice and multiple hours of classroom sessions over three years. The author hopes to elevate standards of local production practice in Kuala Lumpur; create a more vibrant, competitive and eclectic theatre scene; and inspire new directors in the city to discover their own directorial approaches.

ESPN columnist Gregg Easterbrook argues that "cold coaches," ones who expose themselves to the same elements their players are facing by wearing light jackets instead of warm parkas, are more likely to lead their teams to victory. The same is true for great stage directors; if we, as artistic leaders, expect our colleagues to open themselves up and be vulnerable in process, we must lead by example.
