Digital Processing And Interpretation Of Satellite Images To Study Land Cover In Basra Governorate (1973 - 2010), Tariq Juma Al-Mawla, Hassan Aday Karam Allah, Najm Abdul Hussein Najm

Uruk Journal of Human Sciences

The features in satellite images differ from those in maps because they do not have symbols that indicate their identity. Images record all visible features, which are not necessarily easily identifiable. Images contain raw data that becomes usable only after digital processing of the images using satellite image processing (Remote Sensing), a modern and advanced technology used in processing satellite images. This technology, with its advanced software, has been used as an effective scientific tool to obtain useful information and highlight spatial features that were not visible in the raw images and that the human eye cannot perceive or distinguish.

Cartographic Representation Of Human Geographical Phenomena In Dhi Qar Governorate For The Year 2011-2013, Hussam Sabbar Hadi Al-Zayyadi

Uruk Journal of Human Sciences

Thematic maps are of great importance in economic and social planning, particularly in human geography. Therefore, the methods for creating and producing them have evolved, especially with the advent of computers and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the 1960s. GIS played a major role in the development of map production in general, and statistical mapping in particular. Through GIS, traditional paper maps have transformed into digital maps that can be analyzed, linked, compared, and used to represent various geographical phenomena. The research problem addressed in this study is: To what extent can and do thematic maps effectively represent human geographical …

The Effectiveness Of The Brainstorming Method In The Achievement Of Fourth-Year Students In The College Of Education For Human Sciences In The Subject Of Measurement And Evaluation, Mahmoud Bashir Hamoud, Karim Abis Abu Halil

Uruk Journal of Human Sciences

Modern trends view education as not just the acquisition of knowledge and the introduction of new information for students, but rather it is deeper and more profound than merely assimilating students' skills or forming educational attitudes. Education should not be negative attitudes and is not called learning because learning is a desirable change in the learner's behavior. True education means the integration of all knowledge, skills, attitudes and ideas with each other to reach the student, interact with his personality, become a part of him and influence his opinions and positions towards the knowledge presented to him. On this basis, …

Proposing Draft Laws Under The Current Iraqi Constitution Of 2005, Haider Hassan Shatawi Sep 2015

Proposing Draft Laws Under The Current Iraqi Constitution Of 2005, Haider Hassan Shatawi

Uruk Journal of Human Sciences

In the past, the idea of an authoritarian regime that practiced tyranny and oppression prevailed, and there was no existence of individual rights and freedoms. After the end of this period, the ideas of democratic systems appeared, which are based on the principle of separation of powers. This is the modern concept of exercising power according to the standard of democratic systems. However, this principle does not mean that there is no overlap between these powers, as there is a relative overlap between the powers (legislative and executive). The manifestations of cooperation between the executive and legislative powers are evident …

Founder And Founder Of Constitutional Thought, Ali Youssef Al-Shukri Sep 2015

Founder And Founder Of Constitutional Thought, Ali Youssef Al-Shukri

Uruk Journal of Human Sciences

The discussion of the history of the emergence and establishment of the constitution is linked to the history of the emergence of the founding authority, given that it is concerned with its production and manufacture. In this context, the question arises about the precedence of the emergence of the authority (original - constituent). Did the emergence of the constituent authority precede or follow the emergence of the constituent authority? Certainly, the answer to this question is linked to the history of the emergence of the principle of separation of powers at the hands of Montesquieu. Returning to this history, we …

The Role Of Education In Human Development In Iraq, Al-Qadisiyah Governorate, Case Study 2015 Ad - 1436 Ah, Reda Abdul Jabbar Salman Al Shamry, Hassoun Aboud Daboun Al-Jubouri

Uruk Journal of Human Sciences

Human development is the most important component of comprehensive development because trained and educated human resources form the backbone of economic, social and administrative development. When these three areas interact positively, they lead to the launch of the development process. Therefore, the weakness of human resources in Iraq constitutes the most prominent obstacle to development, and this represents the research problem. To raise the level of education, training, expertise and technical capabilities of these resources, attention must be paid to the education sector, and this represents the research hypothesis.

Investigating The Ichthus (Fish) Christianity Symbol On Perceived Source Credibility Of Service Providers Under Different Service Evaluation Contexts, Jeri L. Jones, Mahmood T. Shandiz Sep 2015

Investigating The Ichthus (Fish) Christianity Symbol On Perceived Source Credibility Of Service Providers Under Different Service Evaluation Contexts, Jeri L. Jones, Mahmood T. Shandiz

Atlantic Marketing Association Proceedings

Combining religious practices with commercial pursuits for profit is neither a novel nor an insignificant trend (Belk, Wallendorf, and Sherry 1989; McDannell 1995). Today, marketplace use of Christian symbols in secular advertising is becoming more common, especially in certain geographic locations within the United States. Christian religion-based messages and symbols regularly appear in a wide range of advertisements. The Christian elements in these ads often include Bible verses, crosses, doves, and often, the Christian fish symbol (Ichthus). Similar Christian messages are often observed in outdoor advertising, retail store signage, product packaging, and even the daily newspaper. These examples illustrate that …

Grrrls In The Underground: Punk Feminism In Composition Studies, Loren Skye Roberson Sep 2015

Grrrls In The Underground: Punk Feminism In Composition Studies, Loren Skye Roberson

Student Theses and Dissertations

During the 1970s, Composition scholars refused to give credence to the punk movement. The field’s active shift away from music and subcultural studies meant that punk was emerging as the door was closing. Mirroring the experience of women in the punk scene, feminists broke out of their structured secondariness to claim their own agency in the field of Composition, thus beginning a new wave of scholarship. Beginning with the origin of the punk ethos in France, I trace the history of women in punk to the riot grrrl movement in the 90s, which was hugely influential to third wave feminism …

Centralia, Collective Memory, And The Tragedy Of 1919, Shawn T. Daley Sep 2015

Centralia, Collective Memory, And The Tragedy Of 1919, Shawn T. Daley

Dissertations and Theses

The Centralia Tragedy of 1919 has been represented in numerous works over the course of the past 100 years. The vast majority of them concern the events of the day of the Tragedy, November 11, 1919, and whether a small group of Wobblies – members of a union group known as the International Workers of the World (I.W.W.) – opened fire on a group of parading American Legionnaires. This particular element, whether or not the Wobblies opened fire on the Legionnaires or the Legionnaires actually charged the hall where the Wobblies were staying, has generated significant concern in academic and …

African American students contributed the charge of “racial insensitivity’ to the growing list of complaints about President Wolfe.

Evaluating The Authenticity Of The Gospels, James O'Brien Sep 2015

Evaluating The Authenticity Of The Gospels, James O'Brien

Spring 2015, Faith and Science

Today, moderns, as well as biblical scholars, have a hard time accepting the possibility that the Gospels are authentic. The idea that a document composed two thousand years ago could be trusted is dismissed as absurd. However, this assumes that there is no evidence suggesting the contrary. Richard Bauckham, in his book, Jesus and the Eyewitnesses, rejects this “gratuitous doubt” and provides a novel contribution to our knowledge of the historical Jesus. This book has awakened scholars to the possibility that the skepticism of form criticism is not only uncritical but also unwarranted. Contra to popular opinion in the …
