Demand Construction Is A Pragmatic Approach., Walid Shaker Al-Naas, Mahmoud Abdul Hamad Al-Lami, Hamad Adl Al-Ghanimi

The topic of sentence structure, particularly imperative sentences, has been extensively discussed by both classical and modern Arabic scholars and researchers. However, I wanted to examine sentence structure from both its classical and modern perspectives, employing a comparative approach based on contemporary theories such as speech acts, indirect speech acts, and pragmatic implicature. I divided my discussion into two main sections: the first addressed the concept and terminology of sentence structure, while the second explored the perspectives of modern linguists, especially those focusing on pragmatics, regarding this linguistic system. The section dedicated to imperative sentences, however, only included the views …

Geographical Analysis Of The Housing Problem In Dhi Qar Governorate, Hussein Aliwi Nasser Al-Ziyadi, Hakim Nasir Husayn
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
There is a genuine housing crisis in Iraq, particularly in urban centers, as evidenced by the obvious overcrowding in residential areas. The housing deficit in Iraq was estimated at approximately 2 million units in 2010. This research aims to study the geographical distribution of housing in the province, identify the key geographical factors influencing this distribution, and assess future housing needs. A statistical and analytical geographical approach was used to study the various trends and changes affecting the geographical distribution of housing, emphasizing the importance of quantitative statistical methods in measuring the level and spatial variation of housing distribution. The …
Environmental And Health Risks Of Ozone Layer Depletion, Qusay Fadel Al-Hussaini
Environmental And Health Risks Of Ozone Layer Depletion, Qusay Fadel Al-Hussaini
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
Ozone is a toxic gas and a triatomic form of oxygen. It is a component of the atmosphere, formed when a single atom of oxygen combines with an oxygen molecule (O2) in the presence of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Most ozone is found in the stratosphere, with some also present in the troposphere. It is produced naturally through photochemical reactions involving gases released by human activities, such as smog. Ozone plays a crucial role in protecting the Earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation, absorbing between 97% and 99% of this radiation before it reaches the Earth's surface, while allowing the passage of …
The Density Distribution Of The Population Of Najaf Governorate For The Period (1997 - 2010) And The Factors Affecting It, Rana Abdel Hassan
The Density Distribution Of The Population Of Najaf Governorate For The Period (1997 - 2010) And The Factors Affecting It, Rana Abdel Hassan
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
Demographic studies are of paramount importance in all social and economic research. Population geography is a branch of human geography that studies the complex relationships between humans and their environment. Population is the central focus of many disciplines, both in the humanities and the applied sciences. Geographical studies of population address three main aspects: population growth, population distribution, and population structure. As the population continues to grow, interest in demographic studies has increased, as people are considered the true wealth of a nation. Without them, the earth would not yield its bounty, civilization would not flourish, and progress would cease. …
The Five Factors Of Personality Development Of Two Short Scales, Louay Khazal Jabr
The Five Factors Of Personality Development Of Two Short Scales, Louay Khazal Jabr
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
Summary: In line with international research trends that have focused on developing short scales for the five-factor model of personality, this study aimed to adapt two internationally recognized short personality scales into Arabic and to verify their psychometric properties. The researcher selected the BFI and TIPI scales and used the Arabic version of the original NEO-PI-R as a criterion measure. After translating the scales and verifying the accuracy of the translation, the two scales were administered to a sample of 197 university students to assess their psychometric properties. The scales were subjected to item analysis, construct validity, and reliability analyses …

Analysis Of The Verses Of Miserliness In The Holy Quran In Light Of The Integrated Discourses, Bassem Khairi Khudair
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
Integrated pragmatics theory represents an important and advanced stage in the development of pragmatic studies. It builds upon the work of Benveniste and the analytical school, and its most comprehensive formulation can be found in the works of DeCroux and Anscombre. The findings of speech act theory formed the basis for their development of argumentation theory. Integrated pragmatics rejects the idea of separating the levels of language (syntax, semantics, and pragmatics) proposed by Morris, advocating instead for the integration of these three components during discourse analysis. It focuses on both the linguistic and rhetorical levels. At the linguistic level, it …

Analysis Of The Morphometric Characteristics Of The Wadi Al-Kaseer Basin, Mahmoud Badr Abdel Samee, Safir Jasim Husayn, Alaa Ibrahim Hussein Al-Moussawi
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
The study of morphometric characteristics is important in geomorphological and hydrological studies, as it reveals the relationships between erosion processes and the resulting landforms. It is one of the modern approaches to studying river basins. Therefore, the drainage basin is the fundamental unit for conducting quantitative research on river basins and for measuring the physical characteristics of river systems or valleys. This represents a recent development in quantitative geomorphology, which relies on statistical and mathematical analysis to describe landforms. Morphometric studies help determine the shape of a basin, its stage of erosion, and the landforms that develop as a result …

The Holy Quran, Its Importance And Impact On Cultural Communication, Mohammed Abbas Noman Al-Jubouri
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
The Holy Quran's influence was not limited to the Arabs, even though it was revealed among them. Its impact extended to encompass both Arabs and non-Arabs, whether they were adherents of Abrahamic religions, polytheists, or followers of other faiths. Islam is a universal message in all its aspects: intellectual, social, and political. It is not confined to any one nation or country. It is a comprehensive message that addresses all nations and peoples of all social strata, encompassing all generations and all parts of the world. With it, the divine messages were finalized. Some adherents of other religions attempted to …

Review Of Martha C. Nussbaum’S Not For Profit: Why Democracy Needs The Humanities, Sue Norton
Review Of Martha C. Nussbaum’S Not For Profit: Why Democracy Needs The Humanities, Sue Norton
Level 3
Martha C. Nussbaum’s central argument in Not for Profit: Why Democracy Needs the Humanities (2010) is that a high quotient of liberal arts education is essential for healthful democracies and human happiness. Education needs to be for something, after all, and this sweeping aim (freedom and joy) would be difficult for most to argue against – least of all those of us who already favor humanities-infused education.
