How rare are we, who brandish Black and Male identity, in Academia?
In the past two weeks, I have been reminded of my Black maleness in a multitude of ways. I sat alone, subordinate in number, in a dialogue about Internalized Oppression at Diaspora House. Strong women of color discuss this issue while I work to stay respectful and non-oppressive in this space. I sat alone, subordinate in number, in each of my classes, where I am often the only one of my race and class. My race-gender circumstance is a matter of fact to me. How does this Black …

Quranic Readings In Al-Baydawi’S Interpretation: The Phenomenon Of Hamza (A Phonetic Study), Sahib Munshid Eabaas, Shimaa Mohamed Sabry
Quranic Readings In Al-Baydawi’S Interpretation: The Phenomenon Of Hamza (A Phonetic Study), Sahib Munshid Eabaas, Shimaa Mohamed Sabry
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
Among the phonetic phenomena mentioned by Al-Baydawi in his commentary is the phenomenon of gemination (doubling of consonants). He discussed Quranic readings that included both the full pronunciation of the geminated consonant and its various simplifications, such as deletion or assimilation. Our study revealed that Al-Baydawi considered this phenomenon a dialectal feature used by some Arab tribes. He attributed this to the perceived harshness of the geminated sound, which he likened to a hiccup, or to avoid the repetition of similar sounds, or to preserve the original pronunciation—a view shared by other Arabic linguists. Phonetic phenomena occupy a significant portion …

Geographical Distribution Of Small Industries In The Kurdistan Region Of Iraq For The Year 2011 Ad, Amal Hadi Kazim Al-Jaberi
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
Small-scale industries play a significant role in the industrial sector, both in developing and developed countries. In some developed countries, they constitute more than 90% of all industrial establishments. Due to their considerable importance, these industries receive significant attention and support. Their flexibility in terms of location, resulting from their small size and limited infrastructure requirements (such as roads, electricity, water, and waste disposal), allows them to thrive in small urban centers and rural areas, thus offering numerous benefits. These include a more equitable distribution of employment opportunities and income, as well as economic advantages derived from locating near sources …
Novel And Culture: The Impact Of Current Culture On Ali Badr’S Novels, Aziz Hussein Ali Al-Moussawi
Novel And Culture: The Impact Of Current Culture On Ali Badr’S Novels, Aziz Hussein Ali Al-Moussawi
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
This research offers a cultural analysis of two novels by the Iraqi novelist Ali Bader. It examines the influence of contemporary culture on the creation of these texts, and explores the role of the intellectual in producing a new culture for society. This new culture transcends the fragmented popular cultures that reflect the emergent intellectual, social, and cultural transformations within societies, cultures that do not represent an authentic cultural identity. The intellectual, in this context, creates culture, rather than merely reproducing or repeating it. The two novels, "The Tobacco Guard" and "Papa Sartre," are analyzed to reveal the direct impact …

The Salvation Army And Its Role In The Development Of Missionary Concepts And Methods 1878-1918 Ad, Haider Jassim Al-Ruwaie
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
The Salvation Army is one of the non-denominational evangelical movements founded in Britain during the 19th century. It directed its efforts towards groups that had previously been neglected by mainstream religious organizations—the poor, the homeless, prostitutes, and addicts. It distinguished itself by employing unconventional methods of evangelism, adopting a military-style organizational structure and uniform, and utilizing music and public processions. Despite facing fierce resistance from established churches and prevailing social currents of the time, it managed to thrive and spread worldwide, thanks to the efforts of its founder, the Methodist preacher and later General William Booth. His strong leadership fostered …

This research focuses on the semantic terminology used in the field of Islamic jurisprudence as employed by Ibn 'Ashur in his Quranic commentary. A considerable number of semantic terms were developed by early scholars of Islamic jurisprudence to facilitate the understanding of legal rulings, and these terms were subsequently used by later scholars of jurisprudence, as well as by many commentators on the Quran. Ibn 'Ashur was one such commentator; he was not only a Quranic commentator but also a scholar of jurisprudence. His background in Islamic jurisprudence led him to utilize the semantic terminology of jurisprudence in his interpretation …
Geographical Analysis Of Agricultural Land Investment Patterns In Al-Khader District, Anwar Sabah Mohammed Al-Kalabi
Geographical Analysis Of Agricultural Land Investment Patterns In Al-Khader District, Anwar Sabah Mohammed Al-Kalabi
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
Geographical analysis of agricultural investment patterns is one of the methods that leads to the identification of agricultural land use patterns, which in turn define the spatial organization of the phenomenon under study (agriculture). Studying the patterns of agricultural land use, their distribution, and their area is essential to balancing the increasing demand for food products with the limited supply, given that agricultural land continues to suffer from inefficient use by farmers and inadequate planning. This necessitates studying the geographical factors influencing these agricultural patterns and exploring the potential for their future planning and development.
The Reality Of Palm Cultivation And Date Production In Basra Governorate, Mohammed Samir Hamad
The Reality Of Palm Cultivation And Date Production In Basra Governorate, Mohammed Samir Hamad
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
The cultivation of date palms and the production of dates in Iraq are among the oldest agricultural practices, dating back to 3500 BC. Historical export records confirm that in 1927, Iraq exported 148,232 tons of dates, a relatively large quantity at that time, without any other country competing with this level of production. Basra, in southern Iraq, is one of the most famous date-producing regions, renowned for its palm groves that stretch along both banks of the Shatt al-Arab waterway for 100 miles, from the city of Faw at the head of the Persian Gulf to the city of Al-Qurnah …

Audio Recordings And Their Impact On Criminal Evidence (Comparative Study), Rafah Khadir Jayad
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
The tremendous advancements of the information revolution have had a significant impact on the admissibility of evidence obtained through electronic means. A major shift has occurred in the types of evidence legally acceptable, thanks to the technological developments in this area. While criminals have clearly evolved their methods of committing crimes, to the point that traditional methods of proof are sometimes insufficient to address this new type of crime, it has become essential to develop new methods of evidence. Today, judicial authorities are required to deal with innovative and sophisticated forms of evidence in criminal proceedings, such as audio recordings. …

Muntafiq Brigade In Ottoman Documents: Basra Almanacs As A Model 1890-1900, Hussein Ali Obaid Al-Mustafa
Muntafiq Brigade In Ottoman Documents: Basra Almanacs As A Model 1890-1900, Hussein Ali Obaid Al-Mustafa
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
Ottoman almanacs are an important source for the history of Ottoman provinces, including Basra in the 19th century. The Basra almanacs provide geographical, demographic, infrastructural, and economic descriptions of the various districts within the province, including the Muntfiq district, which is the focus of this study. Historical accounts of this district are scarce, so the researcher supplemented the almanac data with other sources, leading to findings that contradict the prevailing views among historians regarding the name of the Muntfiq Emirate, its original location, and the origins of the Muntfiq confederation. The research also examines the administrative structure of the district …

Family Disputes In Bahrain And Their Repercussions On Local, Regional And International Powers (1842-1869), Bushra Kazem Awda
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
The research deals with the history of Bahrain as part of the Arabian Gulf for the period extending (1842-1869) as it witnessed severe disputes between the Al Khalifa family over rule, which led to military clashes between them, the impact of which was later reflected on the situation of the country of Bahrain, as it became an important focal point for polarization, over which local, regional and international powers competed. Thus, the country of Bahrain entered a difficult political and military situation, as its possessions became like feudalism, inherited by these powers, and each one built its existence at the …
