The Failure Of The Kirtland Safety Society And Its Effect On The Faith Of The Latter-Day Saints, Jordan Bell, Dr. Richard Bennett
The Failure Of The Kirtland Safety Society And Its Effect On The Faith Of The Latter-Day Saints, Jordan Bell, Dr. Richard Bennett
Journal of Undergraduate Research
Our research suggests that though the late Kirtland period was very difficult for the faith of the Latter-Day Saints, a large majority continued to identify with the Church through the Nauvoo period. Significant numbers eventually gathered with the Saints in Utah.1

2013-2014 Raise the Bar
A transformative evening of theater, Orlando opens with the hero as a young man in Elizabethan England, and follows his transformations of fortune, love and even gender in thie multi-faceted, century-spanning quest for "life and a lover". A sensuous epic of self-discovery, Virgina Woolf's novel has been described as the most charming love letter in literature, relishing an era where opulence and hedonism were savored.

Why Are Scandinavians So Happy?, John Hasselberg
Why Are Scandinavians So Happy?, John Hasselberg
Forum Lectures
Perhaps somewhat surprising to many in central Minnesota, Scandinavian societies are ranked as having the happiest people in the world. Long-term longitudinal studies such as "Development, Freedom, and Rising Happiness: A Global Perspective (1981-2007)" by Inglehart, Foa, Peterson and Welzel of the University of Leicester, and recent research reported by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network in its "World Happiness Report 2013", edited by Helliwell, Layard & Sachs, consistently come to the conclusion that Scandinavians are the happiest people in the world. Why? How is this possible? What can we learn from them?

Interpreting the Civil War: Connecting the Civil War to the American Public
Nothing was happening in Gettysburg in the spring of 1864.
That's not quite true. There was tons happening in the first few weeks of April 15 decades ago. But that "tons" was not massive or earth shattering. A dozen men and women died. Another handful of men and women found new lives in each others' arms. Life continued in this place just as it had a year before. It continued on in spite of the new cemetery, in spite of the war, in spite of the rebel arms and heads poking out of gardens alongside the budding spring flowers. Life …

Honors Theses
The results of this project were far from what I expected both in process and final solution. My topic was rather vague, tempting me to research a broad range of information, much of which was not necessary to the development of my pieces, but perhaps got me thinking in new ways. My project was unique in that it was not the typical, world problem thesis, and the logic behind my decisions was made almost entirely based off of my knowledge of music and and visual subjectivity. Though it was easily the most important part of the piece, and most visually …
Marriage: A Formative Institution, Joanna S. Anderson
Marriage: A Formative Institution, Joanna S. Anderson
Senior Honors Theses
Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, features five main marriages that demonstrate the eighteenth century companionate marriage model in varying degrees. Many of the societal changes in the eighteenth and nineteenth century contributed to the rise of the companionate marriage, and these many changes are reflected in the rising genre—the novel. Specifically, Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice incorporates the major themes of the novel as a genre, specifically, the rise of the individual and equality of souls, to show that the companionate model of marriage makes marriage a formational platform for two individuals. Austen clearly sets apart Elizabeth and …

First-Gen Voices: Creative and Critical Narratives on the First-Generation College Experience
I've always had a dilemma with being "The Good Daughter." I still do. Much of my first-generation experience has revolved around sacrificing myself for those who sacrificed themselves for me. For my success. I, however, at times, desire to be free. To chose what I see fit. To choose what I think I love. To have pride. To have the pride to ignite my fire within. I see pride, and I have attained it. But for myself, for others.
