Creating A Standard Operating Procedures Manual: The Ualr Graduate School Experience, Shannon Marie Clowney Feb 2012

Creating A Standard Operating Procedures Manual: The Ualr Graduate School Experience, Shannon Marie Clowney

Theses and Dissertations

In the summer of 2009 I was given the task to create a Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manual for the Graduate School at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. This was a unique work assignment because SOPs are typically created for scientific, medical, or military organizations. Therefore there was not a reliable template I could find to use as a model for this document. The purpose of this thesis is to help fill that gap. It offers other technical writers a set of steps to follow when given the task of writing an SOP for an organization within higher …

Synthesis And Characterization Of Nanocomposites For Electrochemical Capacitors, Farah Alvi Feb 2012

Synthesis And Characterization Of Nanocomposites For Electrochemical Capacitors, Farah Alvi

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Presently there are deep concerns over the environmental consequences and the consumption of non-renewable energy sources, with the accelerated greenhouse effect, triggered enormous interest in the use of renewable energy sources e.g., solar, hydropower, wind and geothermal. However the intermittent nature of harvesting renewable energy sources has recently gained considerable attention in the alternative reliable, cost effective, and environmentally friendly energy storage devices. The supercapacitor and lithium ion batteries are considered more efficient electrical energy storage devices than conventional energy storage systems.

Both devices have many useful and important applications; they could be an excellent source for high power and …

Matrix Metalloproteinase Genes Are Transcriptionally Regulated By E2f Transcription Factors: A Link Between Cell Cycle Control And Metastatic Progression, Jacqueline Lea Johnson Feb 2012

Matrix Metalloproteinase Genes Are Transcriptionally Regulated By E2f Transcription Factors: A Link Between Cell Cycle Control And Metastatic Progression, Jacqueline Lea Johnson

USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The RbµE2F transcriptional regulatory pathway plays a critical role in the cell cycle. Rb is inactivated through multiple waves of phosphorylation, mediated mainly by cyclin D and cyclin E associated kinases. Once Rb is inactivated, cells can enter Sµphase. Collectively, three Rb family members and ten E2F proteins coordinate every additional stage of the cell cycle, from quiescence to mitosis. However the RbµE2F pathway is frequently altered in cancer. Aside from cell proliferation, the RbµE2F pathway regulates other essential cellular processes including apoptosis, cell differentiation, angiogenesis and DNA damage repair pathways, but its role in invasion and cancer progression is …

A radio dramatization of Olga Kolberg’s life presents her educational efforts in El Paso. Mrs. Kohlberg describes the concept of kindergarten, and the importance of education in very young children. A narrator details Mrs. Kohlberg’s efforts to raise money and establish a kindergarten in El Paso. Catholic Claims Stretch The First Amendment, Ellis M. West

Political Science Faculty Publications

The Obama administration recently issued a regulation requiring all employers except religious organizations to include contraceptives in their employees' health insurance. The Catholic Church and various politicians have accused the administration of violating the church's religious freedom. Although the administration has modified its original regulation, it continues to be attacked for "waging war" on religious freedom.

Advertising And Consumerism In The Food Industry, Marlene Keller Feb 2012

Advertising And Consumerism In The Food Industry, Marlene Keller

Honors Theses - Providence Campus

The eating habits of society as a whole have drastically changed over the last few decades. The influx of technology, advertising, images in the media and changes within modern cultural and family values play a big role in the psychological evolution of consumers in the food service industry. My goal is to discover how the images in advertisements and media influence our desire to purchase food and alter our perception on what makes food appealing. In this thesis paper, I will start off with an introduction of how consumerism has changed since the use of advertisements first began. I will …
