The history of the laws and courts of England is a rich subject, but little work has been done on the history of common law prior to the eighteenth century. With fewer sources than later periods and a confusing system of overlapping jurisdictions the late seventeenth century has largely been ignored by legal history scholars. Furthermore, the history of this period is often dominated by grand events like the Glorious Revolution. Ronsons, Zippos, Brew-Ups, And Tommycookers: The M4 Sherman Tank And American Armored Development During World War Ii, John Michael Muller

In January 1945 the M4 Sherman tank became embroiled in bitter controversy for its inability to match-up with certain tanks of the German Army. Citing many deficiencies of the Sherman, angry American tankers vented their frustrations to the media during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944 and January 1945. Questioning the effectiveness of the Ordnance Department and U.S. Army doctrine that governed the tanks produced, members of the media demanded a congressional investigation why American tanks appeared to be substantially inferior in mobility, firepower, and protection in comparison to German tanks. Based on a critical examination, evaluation, and selection of primary and secondary sources related to American art theater that have moved from the private into the public digital realm, Finelli reflects and comments on key issues related to the digital archive and theater historiography. His objective was to analyze the notion of digital archives and consider how accessing materials in electronic form affects the practice of writing history. The genre of the captivity narrative has operated as a vital circuit for transnational colonial discourse since its inception. Throughout the age of discovery, accounts of the captivity became an indispensible means of connecting the European metropole to foreign lands in Asia and Africa, as well as North and South America. The development of the Indian captivity narrative within the Atlantic context functioned as an effective tool for the dissemination of knowledge concerning the New World and its Indigenous inhabitants. Modeling and simulation has moved far beyond simple data representation into the world of visual communication over the past 15 years; ultimately, the acceptance of M&S within mainstream science and society will depend on the results that are produced visually. A simulation’s function is of primary importance to its end result, but it cannot be denied that the discipline of M&S now prizes fancy graphics to communicate. Rhetorical methodological decisions have the greatest impact on the end user, and considerations that bring visual rhetoric to modeling and simulation should be examined as a necessity to application. En dos de los cuadernos de trabajo de Jose Donoso contenidos en el archivo de la Universidad de Iowa se encuentra un conjunto de anotaciones autografas en las que se hace evidente que el escritor no se encontraba trabajando en uno de sus proyectos literarios, sino en una entrevista a Jorge Luis Borges. Tras el hallazgo en el ano 2007 trate por diversos medios de encontrar la version publicada de este texto, ya que la importancia del entrevistado asi como la precaria situacion en la que se encontraba Donoso para entonces --sin trabajo, con poco dinero, apenas en los inicios …

José Donoso (Chile 1924-1996) estuvo en la Universidad de Iowa al menos en dos ocasiones. Primero, durante el año académico de 1966-1967, cuando se unió al Taller de escritores (Writers’ Workshop) como profesor visitante. Más adelante en 1991, mediante su participación en el Programa internacional de escritores (International Writing Program), experiencia a la que el lector de Donoso puede acceder parcialmente a través del testimonio del escritor en su Historia personal del Boom (1972).
