Music education organizations achieved a huge success in Texas several years ago when legislation declared music as a part of the core curriculum. Similarly, more recent national education legislation like No Child Left Behind has recognized music as a core curricular subject. Since that time, little has been done to assess music students to ensure a set of basic skills and knowledge is being achieved. While national and state music standards exist, these standards, in many cases, are not mandatory and merely serve as a guide or recommendations for music educators to follow. This story of Bethlehem United Methodist Church is compiled with much love and deep appreciation of those earlier dedicated Methodists who organized this Church and of those (including early church historians, newspaper editors, archives and courthouse employees) who shared information that is being used by the authors to write this revised version of her history.
While researching and recording this history, we discovered numerous church land conveyances, newspaper articles, 1878-1928 history of the Woman's Missionary Society of Bethlehem, other data that had not been recorded in prior histories, and numerous bits of information about events that occurred during 1990-2008. The Presence Of Divine Providence In The Absence Of “God”: The Role Of Providence, Fate, And Free Will In Tolkien Mythology, Christin Ivey
The Corinthian
Close examination of J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic mythologically driven Faerie literature reveals an implicit allusion to Christian theology, undoubtedly deriving from Tolkien’s devote practice of Roman Catholicism. However, unlike his friend and counterpart C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien insisted on distancing his faerie mythos from any explicit Christian allegorical connotations. Yet theological themes regarding divine providence, fate, chance and free will consistently manifest within Tolkien’s literature, notably in The Silmarillion and his epic trilogy, The Lord of the Rings. In order to assimilate theology and mythology in a more universal manner, Tolkien turned to Boethius’s philosophy regarding the role of providence, …

This volume focuses primarily on the Phase II testing and Phase III data recovery of the Middle and Late Archaic components at three sites located in the Caesars Indiana development in Harrison County, Indiana (Figure 1.1). The sites discussed are the Townsend site (12Hr481), the Knob Creek site (12Hr484) and the Stucky site (12Hr482) (see Figure 1.2). Although the Townsend site contains a substantial Late Archaic component, a significant late Early Archaic and Early Woodland occupations are also described in this report. At the Knob Creek site there are buried and stratified Middle Archaic, Late Archaic and Terminal Archaic components. …

A Study Of The Comparative Perceptions Of Non-Tenured And Tenured Music Teachers And Music Supervisors Regarding The Needs And Concerns Of The Teacher In Music Performance Education, Dale E. Johanson
Research & Issues in Music Education
The purpose of this study was to elicit information through a survey from non-tenured and tenured music performance teachers and their music supervisors concerning their perceived needs and concerns at work. An instrument created for evaluation and assessment was constructed to yield twelve scale areas of needs and concerns. Comparison of responses provided results showing areas of congruence and disagreement among music performance teachers and supervisors.
Teachers placed teaching materials and resources as a high concern while supervisors expressed greatest concern in the area of music-related competence. In terms of assistance, non-tenured music teachers felt that mentor teachers, music conferences, …

Monotheism, Polytheism, Monolatry, Or Henotheism? Toward An Assessment Of Divine Plurality In The Hebrew Bible, Michael Heiser
Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary (1973-2015)
Israel’s view of God and his relationship to other divine beings in the Hebrew Bible has long been the subject of scholarly debate. The dominant critical consensus since the late nineteenth century holds that Israel’s faith evolved from polytheism or henotheism to monotheism. Passages in the Hebrew Bible that assume the existence of other gods are compared to other passages that put forth the declaration that “there are no other gods besides” the God of Israel as proof of this view. Other scholars who reject this evolutionary paradigm tend to assume passages evincing divine plurality actually speak of human beings, …
