Elizabeth Goudge Revisited: The Lost Art Of Happily Ever After, Anne A. Salter

The article focuses on the works of novelist Elizabeth Goudge. Her style of writing has been described as adult fairy tales. Her works were greatly influenced by the Victorian Period. Goudge's book "The White Witch" presents the historical backdrop of the English Civil War. Writer Josephine Lawrence stated in her review of the novelist's book "Gentian Hill" that the Victorian side of Goudge makes it appealing.

Didactic learning relates to philosophical, theoretical, and/or practical information that is communicated via lecture, discussion, and modeling.

Experiential learning refers to the students' firsthand experiences in the learning/therapy group process that accompanies didactic instruction. In this form of learning, students have opportunities to observe, participate in, co-lead, lead, and verbally process improvisation experiences.

In the Second Temple period, the Torah gained scriptural authority through its association with the priesthoods of the Jerusalem and Samaritan temples. The Torah, in tum, legitimized these priests' control over both the temples and, for much of the period, over the territory of Judah as well. An original function of the Pentateuch then was to legitimize the religious and, by extension, the political claims of priestly dynasties. This point has rarely been discussed and never been emphasized by biblical scholars, however, which makes the subject of the Torah's relationship to the Second Temple Aaronide priesthood as much about the …

This study argues the efficacy of the phenomenological cultural work of a visual culture archaeology that liberates a political and critical identity, resistant to domination, authoring social change and its own agency through multiple and incommensurable positions. Built upon Foucauldian premises, visual culture archaeology is developed as a methodology for discursive un-naming and re-naming, and emerges from the inherence and attenuation of inscripted meanings in the reinterpretation of identity during a postmodern confluence of ideas and images. BEADS: Journal of the Society of Bead Researchers

Drawing on the rich tradition of textile crafts in the Ottoman Empire, Turkish soldiers incarcerated in British prison camps in the Middle East during and immediately after World War I made a variety of beadwork items to relieve the boredom of their prolonged imprisonment and to barter or sell for food and other amenities. Best known are the bead crochet snakes and lizards, but the prisoners also used loomed and netting techniques to produce necklaces, belts, purses, and other small items.

Final /-s/ does not exist in modern T ʾ in; however, *-s in Proto-T ʾ in can be reconstructed. The distinction between *-s and *-h in Proto-T ʾ in phonology is suggested by two types of final correspondences, i.e., *-s has become /-yh/ in Mal but /-t/ in Pray, and *-h has been kept as /-h/ in both Mal and Pray. This fact was pointed out by Filbeck in 1978; however, no Proto-T ʾ in forms were reconstructed by him. Over the past twenty five years the study of Thai dialects has concentrated on the geographical variation of either tones or lexical items. In the 1990s another type of Thai dialect study began to take shape- a combination of geographical and social variation study. Age has been identified as the main factor influencing variation in Thai dialects. The new type of study has so far concentrated on lexical variation. In the early 17th century, male servant eunuchs were common, notably at the Persianised Acehnese court of Iskandar Muda. By the mid-eighteenth century, the castration of male slaves mysteriously disappeared. Concubinage, however, lasted much longer. While there were sporadic attempts to stamp out abuses, for example sexual relations with pre-pubescent slave girls, and possibly, clitoridectomy, a reasoned rejection of the institution of concubinage on religious grounds failed to emerge. This paper discusses the sexual treatment of slaves across Islamic Southeast Asia, a subject which sheds important light on historical specificities pertaining to both Islam and sexuality in the region, yet …
