Originally titled Threes, its plot revolves around Bobby (a single man unable to commit fully to a steady relationship, let alone marriage), the five married couples who are his best friends, and his three girlfriends. Unlike most book musicals, which follow a clearly delineated plot, Company is a concept musical composed of short vignettes, presented in no particular chronological order, linked by a celebration for Bobby's 35th birthday.

In 1994, Rwanda was the scene of genocide, or more precisely in French, “le théâtre du génocide” (theatre of genocide). Perpetrators and victims played their role while the rest of the world watched the “spectacle” live on television. Perhaps because of its spectacular aspect, the Rwandan genocide has inspired a number of artistic materials. 互文性理论源于二十世纪六十年代，由法国文论家克里斯蒂瓦提出。根据这一理论，任何文本的生成都不是孤立封闭的，都与其它文本发生联系并产生 文本互涉。这一理论从根本上动摇了过去那种认为文本是独立自足的观点，揭开了文本研究的新篇章。近年来，国内有学者将互文性理论运用于中国文学批评和翻译研究，但这些讨论缺乏理论的深度和系统性。

本论文试图运用互文性理论建立一条互文性翻译研究的途经，以此指导翻译理论和实践。全文共分八章。第一章为导论，讨论了中国翻译界的互文性研究状况。第二章对西方不同流派的互文性理论进行了梳理；第三章上承孔孟、 陆机、刘勰，乃至王国维、钱钟书等，从中国的话语实践勾勒中国互文思想的 演变，补充了国人在该方面研究的不足。第四章探讨互文性的基本概念，以及这基本概念运用于翻译研究的可行性。第五、六章讨论显性互文性和成构互文性。前者指语篇的表层特征，手法有引用、模仿、糅杂、戏拟等；后者指过去 和现在的体裁、规范、类型甚至主题在阅读的文本中发生的相互指涉关系。在上述研究的基础上，第七章提出了互文性翻译的三个准则：关联准则、经济准则、中和准则。如果源语和目标语不能产生互文的关联，译文意图就会扭曲、 信度会大打折扣；互文性所携带的文化内涵决定了译文必须以简代繁、以约代冗，这样读者方可从阅读中感受文本的魅力；在众多的互文指涉中，译者通过认知分析来获取互文翻译的中和效果十分必要。第八章讨论了翻译的主体间性问题，通过大量英汉翻译实例分析来证明，能否做到语境化重构、达到互文的视阈融合、创造等效的互文特征是翻译成败的关键。

本文是第一部以汉语讨论互文性与翻译的博士论文，在英汉语翻译语料分析的基础上提出了互文性的基本理论和翻译实践的原则，希望对文学批评、语言研究、文化研究、翻译研究发挥积极的推动作用。

I joined CLAGS as a board member in 1994, at a transitional moment in its history. The grassroots activist project that Marty Duberman had started in his living room had been recognized as one of CUNY's Research Centers for only a short time at that point, and many people on the board struggled with what it meant to be institutionally affiliated. Heterosexuality is under attack--not by the authors of a new "I hate straights" broadsheet, not by vacationers in Provincetown, but by state judges in the US. In August, New York's highest court ruled that the New York State Constitution "does not compel recognition of marriages between members of the same-sex." Their reasoning? In part, the decision declared, because opposite-sex relationships are "often too casual," and thus result in the production of children by "accident or impulse." This document constitutes the final report of work done by Prewitt and Associates, Inc. (PAI), under a contract from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to provide archeological services in four TxDOT districts—Abilene, Brownwood, Fort Worth, and Waco. Under this contract, PAI completed Impact Evaluations and Surveys to assist TxDOT in meeting the requirements of their Memorandum of Understanding with the Texas Historical Commission and a Programmatic Agreement between the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, the Federal Highway Administration, the Texas Historical Commission, and TxDOT.
