วรรณกรรมเรื่อง ทะเกะโตะริโมะโนะงะตะริ เป็นวรรณกรรมประเภทนิทาน ที่เก่าแก่ที่สุดของญี่ปุ่น เขียนขึ้นเมื่อประมาณปลายศตวรรษที่ 9 เป็นเรื่องราวของ เจ้าหญิงคะงุยะจากดวงจันทร์ที่จุติลงมาในโลกมนุษย์ในกระบอกไม้ไผ่ เจ้าหญิงมี ความงามมากจึงเป็นที่หมายปองของบรรดาผู้ที่มีเงินทั้งหลายแต่ก็ไม่มีใครสามารถ หาของวิเศษที่เจ้าหญิงตั้งขึ้นเป็นหัวข้อทดสอบมาได้และสุดท้ายเจ้าหญิงก็กลับดวงจันทร์ไป ในบทความนี้ได้ศึกษาถึงจินตนาการของมนุษย์เกี่ยวกับสิ่งลี้ลับที่อยู่ เหนือธรรมชาติ โลกสวรรค์ รวมไปจนถึงบรรดาของวิเศษต่างๆ ที่ปรากฏในเรื่อง สิ่งเหล่านี้ได้สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงความเพ้อฝันและความปรารถนาของมนุษย์ที่ต้องการ หลีกหนีจากโลกแห่งความเป็นจริงไปสู่โลกในอุดมคติที่มนุษย์แสวงหา แต่สุดท้าย แล้วโลกในจินตนาการกับโลกแห่งความเป็นจริงก็มิอาจจะปะปนกันได้ มนุษย์ทำได้ แต่เพียงอาศัยจินตนาการเป็นเครื่องปลอบประโลมให้ดำรงอยู่ในโลกแห่งความเป็นจริงนี้ต่อไป

In the past several years, a trend has developed that in an earlier age would have seemed inappropriate and perhaps even morbid; the increased personalization of gravestones (memorials). What makes this trend interesting is the variety of shapes, designs, manufacturing processes, and types of personalization actually appearing on gravestones, including seven-inch LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screens recessed into the face of memorials. Recognition Beyond Struggle: On A Liberatory Account Of Hegelian Recognition, Michael Monahan

The article discusses the concept of Hegelian recognition. The four central tenets of the agonistic interpretation of Hegelian recognition are discussed. First, recognition requires participants to occupy one of the two roles such as recognizer and recognizee. Moreover, it asserts that recognition is a relation of asymmetry. The article addresses the concept of pure recognition. In this concept, the agent is able to exist as a self-conscious agent for another self-conscious agent. Furthermore, the uses and abuses of recognition are also addressed.

This essay re-examines the causes and consequences of Caribbean alienation, with implications for understanding alienation in other postcolonial societies. The author argues that while externalization does follow colonial incursions or international travel by the colonized, exile and alienation also result from emotional or psychological migrations within the mind, a consequence of neocolonial mechanisms tied to globalization.

The interaction of domestic politics and the English Navy during the Civil Wars and the following interregnum is analyzed. The period of interest is during the reign of Charles I (1646-1649); the Commonwealth (1649-1653), when the government functioned essentially as a republic; and the Protectorate, (1653-1660), when the executive function was performed first by Oliver Cromwell and then by his son, Richard Cromwell. A brief description of the immediate preceding years is included to establish the political climate of the time.

Before the Revolution of 1917, the Uzbek population had a traditional system of religious education, but the literacy level of the Uzbek people was very low. After the Soviets seized power in Uzbekistan, they promoted the development of Uzbek language and culture. In 1937 the Soviet government subjected the entire Uzbek nation to political and ideological instructions. The Russian language became the primary language that dominated many aspects of Uzbek life: party apparatus, science, technologies, state administration, and higher education.

In 1997 King Papers Project director Clayborne Carson obtained a substantial body of such materials. Mrs. Coretta Scott King granted the King Papers Project permission to examine papers kept in boxes in the basement of the home that became the King residence in 1965 and to identify items that were appropriate for the Project's mission. The most significant discovery resulting from this exploration was a private file of sermon materials King kept in his study. A battered cardboard box held over two hundred folders containing handwritten outlines, drafts, and prayers as well as academic papers, published articles, and correspondence. The …

เพลงเลียนแบบพื้นบ้าน หรือ "คุนซ์ลีด" (Kunstlied) เป็นประเภทหนึ่ง (genre) ของงานศิลป์ที่มีลักษณะเด่นและมี เอกลักษณ์พิเศษได้รับความนิยมมากใน เยอรมนีโดยเฉพาะในระหว่างศตวรรษที่ 18 และ 19 เนื่องจาก "คุนซ์ลีด" เป็น ประเภทหนึ่ง (genre) ของวรรณคดีและในขณะเดียวกันก็เป็นประเภทหนึ่ง (genre) ของดนตรีด้วยเช่นกัน ในบทความวิจัยนี้ ผู้เขียนจะนำเสนอแง่มุมพิเศษของเพลงเลียนแบบพื้นบ้าน ว่า มีความหมายสองนัยในแง่ วรรณศิลป์ คือ เกี่ยวพันกับ กวีนิพนธ์ และมี ความหมายในแง่ คีตศิลป์ อย่างไร เพลงประเภทนี้ มีที่มา และ พัฒนา จากเพลง พื้นบ้าน (Volkslied) อย่างไร กับมีความสำคัญในแง่สังคม วัฒนธรรม การเมือง และ ในแง่วิชาการต่อวงการวรรณกรรม และดนตรีของเยอรมัน และของโลกอย่างไร

บทความวิจัยชิ้นนี้เน้นการวิเคราะห์ถึงบทบาทของการกินที่นำมาใช้ในการดำเนินเรื่องในเทพปกรณัมกรีก-โรมัน ผู้วิจัยได้ใช้เรื่องราวในเทพปกรณัมกรีก-โรมัน ที่อาศัยการกินในการดำเนินเรื่องทั้งหมด 9 เรื่องในการวิเคราะห์ ได้แก่ เรื่อง เทพ คิวปิดกับนางไซคี สงครามชิงอำนาจระหว่างเทพโครนัสกับเทพซูส โพรมีเทียสเทพ ผู้สร้างมนุษย์ มหากาพย์โอดิสซีย์ แทนทาลัสกับราชวงศ์เอเทรียส นางพรอกนี้และ นางฟิลอมิลา ไม่ดัสกับการขอพรที่เบาปัญญา ฟินิอัสในเจสันกับขนแกะทองคำ และ เรื่องของแอริซิกทัน จากการวิเคราะห์ผู้วิจัยได้ข้อสรุปว่าบทบาทของการกินในเทพ ปกรณัมกรีก-โรมันนั้น มีความเด่นชัดในด้านลบมากกว่าด้านบวก กล่าวคือ การกิน นั้นถูกนำเสนอเป็นรางวัลตอบแทนหรือความสุขเพียงเรื่องเดียว คือ เรื่องเทพคิวปิด กับนางไซคี ส่วนที่เหลือนั้นการกินถูกนําเสนอเป็นสาเหตุแห่งทุกข์ ภัยพิบัติ หรือบทลงโทษ

บทความวิจัยนี้เป็นการศึกษาบทบาทของตำนานประวัติศาสตร์และ เทพปกรณัมจีนที่ปรากฏในนิยายเรื่อง ความฝันในหอแดง จากการวิจัยพบว่ามี ตำนานประวัติศาสตร์และเทพปกรณัมจีนหลายเรื่องปรากฏในนิยายเรื่อง ความฝัน ในหอแดง มีทั้งเรื่องราวของบุคคล สัตว์ สิ่งของที่มีที่มาจากตํานานประวัติศาสตร์ และเทพปกรณัมจีน บทบาทและหน้าที่ของตำนานประวัติศาสตร์และเทพปกรณัมจีนแต่ละเรื่องมีบทบาทแตกต่างกันไป นอกจากนี้การศึกษาตำนานประวัติศาสตร์ และเทพปกรณัมจีนที่ปรากฏในนิยายเรื่อง ความฝันในหอแดง ยังทำให้ทราบว่า เทพปกรณัมจีนเรื่องเทพธิดาหนี้ว์วาซ่อมแซมท้องฟ้า (AZ) เป็นที่มาสำคัญ ในการสร้างตัวละครเอกที่สำคัญในเรื่องนี้

ไก่เป็นสัตว์ชนิดหนึ่งที่มีความใกล้ชิดกับชาวญี่ปุ่นเป็นอย่างมากมาช้านาน ชาวญี่ปุ่นมีวัฒนธรรมและความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับไก่อยู่มากมาย บทความนี้ศึกษาไก่ใน วัฒนธรรมของชาวญี่ปุ่น โดยมองผ่านวรรณกรรมที่สําคัญ คติความเชื่อบางประเภท ตลอดจนสํานวนและคําพังเพย เพื่อทําความเข้าใจความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างไก่กับชาวญี่ปุ่น และความหมายในเชิงสัญลักษณ์ของไก่ในวัฒนธรรมญี่ปุ่น ผู้วิจัยพบว่า วัฒนธรรมเกี่ยวกับไก่ของชาวญี่ปุ่นมีพื้นฐานอยู่บนลักษณะเฉพาะของไก่ในฐานะ สิ่งมีชีวิต และควรมีการศึกษาในเชิงเปรียบเทียบกับวัฒนธรรมเกี่ยวกับไก่ของชาติ ต่าง ๆ ในเอเชียที่มีพื้นฐานทางวัฒนธรรมร่วมกับญี่ปุ่น

แถน แมน : เทพเทวาหรือบรรพชนคนไท, สุกัญญา สุจฉายา

แถน และ แมนเป็นกลุ่มตัวละครปฏิปักษ์ ในวรรณคดีเรื่อง ท้าวกุ้งท้าวเขื่อง ของลาว ซึ่งพบว่ามีบทบาทอยู่ในวรรณคดีล้านช้างเรื่องอื่นๆ และในคติความเชื่อ ของชนชาติไทหลายกลุ่ม ในวรรณคดีรุ่นเก่าที่มีเนื้อหาเป็นตำนานและพงศาวดาร "แถน" มีบทบาทสูงในฐานะเทพผู้สร้าง ในวรรณคดีรุ่นหลังที่มีเนื้อหาเป็นนิทาน แถนลดบทบาทลงมาเป็นบริวารของพระอินทร์ และกลายเป็นยักษ์ไปในที่สุด ส่วน "แมน" ในวรรณคดีทั่วไป หมายถึงเทวดา มีสถานะเหนือกว่ามนุษย์แต่ไม่มีอำนาจ เท่าแถน บางเรื่อง หมายถึงคนกลุ่มหนึ่งที่มีสถานภาพสูงกว่าคนกลุ่มอื่นเพราะมี ความใกล้ชิดกับแถนมากกว่า แต่สำหรับกลุ่มไทอาหม แมนกลับหมายถึงคน พื้นเมืองดั้งเดิม ในคติความเชื่อของชนชาติไท แถนคือเทพผู้สร้าง มีหลายองค์ และมี บทบาทเกี่ยวข้องกับชีวิตมนุษย์ แถนมีบทบาทมากในกลุ่มไทดำ และไทลาว ส่วน กลุ่มไทอื่นๆ แถนจะถูกแทนที่ด้วย "พระอินทร์" (ขุนสาง หรือ "พระพรหม") หลักฐานจากบันทึกทางประวัติศาสตร์ของจีนและบันทึกของนักเดินทาง ตั้งแต่สมัยราชวงศ์ฮั่นเป็นต้นมา แสดงให้เห็นว่าแถนและแมนเป็นกลุ่มชนที่มีจริงใน บริเวณภาคใต้ของจีน และเป็นไปได้ว่าจะเป็นบรรพชนของกลุ่มชนชาติไท เพราะมี วัฒนธรรมที่เป็นมรดกร่วมกัน โดยเฉพาะกลุ่มที่เรียกว่า เตียนเยว่หรืออาณาจักร เตียน หรือ แถนและพวกหมาง หรือ แมนบางกลุ่ม

ชาวเขาที่อาศัยอยู่ทางตอนใต้ของสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีนตอนเหนือของประเทศเมียนมาร์ สาธารณรัฐประชาธิปไตยประชาชนลาว และประเทศไทย เป็น ชาติพันธุ์ที่ไม่มีตัวอักษรเป็นของตัวเอง แต่ชาวเขาเหล่านี้ ไม่ว่าจะเป็น อาข่า ลาหู กะเหรี่ยง ล้วนมีตำนานที่เล่าว่า ในอดีตกาลนานโพ้น พวกเขาก็เคยมีตัวอักษรใช้ แต่ต่อมาได้สูญเสียตัวอักษรไป บทความนี้จึงสนใจศึกษา "ตำนานตัวอักษร" ของชาวเขากลุ่มต่างๆ เหล่านี้ เพื่อวิเคราะห์บริบททางสังคมวัฒนธรรมที่ทําให้ชาวเขาเหล่านี้ต้อง "สร้างตํานาน" เพื่อเป็นวาทกรรมตอบโต้คนต่างวัฒนธรรมที่มีตัวอักษรใช้และมีอำนาจทางสังคม และการเมืองมากกว่าตน ตลอดจนวิเคราะห์วิธีการเล่าเรื่อง โครงสร้างและเนื้อหา ตำนานตัวอักษรสํานวนต่างๆ ที่เล่ากันในสังคมวัฒนธรรมชาวเขากลุ่มต่างๆ
