This study investigates the development of Plant City, Florida as a railroad town developing on the Southwest Florida frontier from 1885-1940. The study chronicles the town's origins and economic, political, and social development in relationship to the broader historical theories of southern urban development, specifically those put forward in David Goldfield's pioneering work, Cotton Fields and Skyscrapers: Southern City and Region 1607-1980. Goldfield contended that southern cities developed differently than their northern counterparts because they were not economically, politically, philosophically and culturally separated from their rural surroundings. This selected bibliography is designed to act as a resource to assist in the ongoing, collaborative development of dispute resolution initiatives and programs in legal education and research in North America and abroad. Further, the particular focus of this bibliography, in addition to the teaching and research of dispute resolution generally, is the emphasis that law reform initiatives are putting on dispute resolution processes as potentially useful tools for increasing access to systems of civil justice around the common law world.

This paper is an inquiry into the discourse styles of men and women who work together in a conservative Protestant Christian business. Many conservative Protestant Christian churches teach that the Bible forbids women from holding positions of authority over men. Yet in the communications department of this particular business, women fill the top three management positions, supervising a mixed-gender staff of 15. Research has shown that men and women subconsciously use language markers that indicate personal attitudes toward the same and the opposite genders. It is possible to read both the love letters and the later correspondence of Heloise and Abelard from a theological and philosophical perspective of the body, particularly the “reasoning female body”, and bodies as articulated by the psychoanalytic perspective of sexual difference and alterity in the writings of French feminist and philosopher, Luce Irigaray. It explores stories of German settlers from three points of view: the political, social and cultural situations that motivated emigration; the immigrant communities established in Arkansas, and continuing connections between the New World and the Old.
