This thesis examines the revitalization of Main Street in St. Charles, Missouri, during the late twentieth century, focusing on how local actors reimagined and reconstructed the district’s historic character. At the center of this process was the restoration of the First Missouri State Capitol, a project undertaken by the Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority (LCRA) and other civic partners. This effort not only preserved a landmark but also catalyzed a broader campaign of urban renewal that recast Main Street as a heritage district and cultural destination.

This project is a research paper on the history of women in the film industry. The author begins by pointing out that women have established narrative film, started the first American studios and tried inventive new camera angles among other accomplishments that are not talked about. During the early 1990s, women were in the center of the film industry and well represented. The return of men from the war, socio-economic status, the creation of the Code of Decency, and more sophisticated technology were some of the theories as to why women became marginalized in the industry. Introduction: This study examines demographic and socioeconomic aspects of the Latino population of the New York City area between 1999 and 2004.

Methods: Data on Latinos and other racial/ethnic groups were obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau American Community Survey, reorganized for public use by the Minnesota Population Center, University of Minnesota, IPUMSusa. Cases in the dataset were weighted and analyzed to produce population estimates.

Results: The most striking differential when household income patters are examined is that among Latino households there was almost no increase in median household income between 1999 and 2004. Among whites, African Americans, and Asians …

Photography serves to categorize our perceptions of the world. The value of an image is not in what it represents, but in what it recalls.
