Our humanity is bound to perennial themes in drama, so when a classic play is adapted to 'suit' contemporary audiences, the revised version will often reflect the zeitgeist of the times in which it was produced. The magic of retrospection then allows us to examine the social and political particulars that influence the adapted as well as the original work. Indeed, Steven Berkoff's reworkings of both Aeschylus' Agamemnon and Sophocles' Oedipus Rex reflect an unsettled and divided British context in the throes of ideological upheaval during the 1970's and early 1980's. The thesis of panpsychism is that throughout the natural universe there is mentality, although I prefer the term "mind". We human beings experience this mentality in everyday consciousness and by analogy we are able to assert that mentality is not confined to the human experience alone. This study examined the perceptions of year three children of their first experience of the Sacrament of Penance within the Archdiocese of Perth in light of contemporary developmental research. In the Archdiocese of Perth, the Catholic Church's present practice is to prepare students to receive Penance in Year 3 when they have reached the "age of reason' (7 years). The theology behind the Catholic Church's decision to administer Penance at the age of reason is also investigated. The work of developmental psychologists, particularly Kohlberg and Fowler, underpins this investigation of the cognitive, moral and spiritual development of the sample population. …

本文研究的主題是：俠客在唐代的角色身份和對當時整個時代（包括統治模式、人民生活、道德觀念等等）的影響。從現在已掌握的資料去看，我們可看到唐代的俠有以下若干的特點：第一，唐代的俠熱衷於入世建功，不管是亂世還是治世。一如其他朝代，亂世的軍閥樂於利用俠去達到他們的目標。而太平盛世之後，統治者亦繼續重用俠客，賞其高官厚爵，建府開牙。這是唐代特有的現象；第二，唐代行刺風氣極盛，這實況直接的影響了小說的創作。刺客思想行為上和 俠有相通點，以致後世學者為此爭論不休。而武俠神怪化亦在當時的小說中開始流行，對後世的武俠小說發展影響極為深遠；第三，以現代的道德觀點切入，唐代俠客的行為可以說缺乏人道主義觀念。現代人常將俠客和仁義並舉，但閱讀描寫唐代俠客的文獻（不論文學創作作品還是歷史資料），卻會發現那根本是兩碼子的事。

針對以上所指出的現象，我提出一些問題：一）究竟俠在歷史角逐爭雄中扮演著甚麼角色？二）朝廷對於這群俠又是甚麼態度？三）刺客能否算俠？四）從甚麼時候開始俠客和仁義道德之間畫上了等號？五）假設俠是不人道的，為什麼歷代的人民，甚至學者（如章太炎等）又會對他們推崇備至？六）小說家為什麼將俠客塑造成武功出類拔萃的一群？

研究方法方面，我主要採用的材料是唐代的傳奇和相關的歷史材料。傳奇大部份取材自《太平廣記》，而歷史材料則以《新唐書》和《舊唐書》為主。本文 的主要研究方法是透過傳奇小說和歷史材料兩方面的印證和配合，從而刻畫出唐代俠客的一些特色風貌。

轉變．鄉土．對抗 : 論黃春明前期作品中的小人物, Sze Ting Hau

1977 年的鄉土文學論戰，引發有關文學的作用及何謂「鄉土文學」等爭議。文學的作用，究竟是為了個人抑或是社會，一直有不少討論。黃春明的寫作，顯然是為了社會，他是台灣著名作家，以寫實的手法刻劃小人物真實、純真的一面。透過他一系列的作品，我們可以窺見台灣六七十年代的社會發展。

本文主要討論《青番公的故事》、《溺死一隻老貓》、《看海的日子》與《兒子的大玩偶》等作品，並探討其中小人物的形象。這些作品，都是黃春明的成名作，它們代表著黃春明熟練、樸實的寫作手法。

論文主要分四個部分，前言部分簡介黃春明。正文部分，分兩部分，第一部分，簡介何謂鄉土文學，及談談黃春明小說的主題；第二部分，詳細解說黃春明 筆下的小人物，面對社會的轉變，怎樣以頑強的生命力，解決那些問題。這部分可說是本文的重心。後語部分總結全文，及記述學者對黃春明的評價。

雜誌已成為都市人接收訊息重要的一環。九十年代初成衣商人黎智英創辦了《壹週刊》雜誌，令雜誌界產生了不同層面的變化，亦影響了香港的整體社會文化。透過《壹週刊》來研究香港社會文化，可說是較為有代表性，因它在相同類型雜誌中擁有特別的歷史因素和影響力。本文的目的，就是希望研究《壹週刊》與香港社會文化之間，所出現的互動和微妙關係。讀者是隨著流行讀物而改變生活模式，所謂「潮流興乜就跟乜」，視雜誌為潮流的指標；流行讀物亦會因應讀者口味或社會文化，去改變其報導內容；社會文化被流行讀物影響著它的發展，它又會影響讀者的行為和思想。這種微妙的互動關係，正在香港這傳媒發展日趨蓬勃的地方，有著健全而具影響力之發展。論文以《壹週刊》為主線，從讀者、社會與雜誌之間的關係，分析它們怎樣影響著雜誌的選題方向及風格路線。

單從香港社會文化來說，雜誌掌握不同時代的流行話題，或是未成氣候的潮 流資訊，而成為最新鮮題材。因此，雜誌內容以通俗文化及讀者需要而改變，例 如他們對生活質素上的講求、對事物的好奇心態等，因此潮流雜誌能告訴我們香港人的心態，論文會研究《壹週刊》內容特色怎樣表現香港社會文化。此外，《壹週刊》從九十年代開始，成為紀錄香港社會轉變的重要雜誌之一，從「縱向」層 面來說，文章會分析《壹週刊》眼中，香港在政治、經濟及生活上十多年來有著甚麼轉變；從「橫向」層面上，在同一件新聞中，它跟其他報刊在內容上所取的重點及文字表達方法，又是否一樣呢？是帶動還是抹黑著香港社會文化？讀者又是否應該要懂得分別題材的真確性呢？論文透過不同層次的比較方法，研究雜誌與社會文化的微妙關係。論文的最後部份，會深入探討《壹週刊》對香港社會及傳媒文化的各種影響，評論《壹週刊》的存在意義和價值。

選定以傳媒文化為畢業論文的主題，全因為對傳媒的興趣及它所發出的威力。一本雜誌能夠影響著社會各層面，如市民對時事的判斷和立場、潮流話題與 喜好等，影響範圍之廣實在不容忽視。當我從電影、電視、報紙、雜誌等傳媒類別收窄題材範圍之後，決定利用《壹週刊》為論文研究對象，希望透過雜誌背景及內容的獨特性，研究香港社會文化跟雜誌之間互相影響的關係。其實論文起初開始下筆時，遇到最大的問題是怎樣客觀地分析研究對象和以自己的角度評論雜誌，正因為《壹週刊》是我經常閱讀的雜誌，有很多看法已經變得根深柢固，要從讀者身份抽離初時並不容易，後來經過閱讀不同的書籍和文章，令我對香港傳媒及《壹週刊》有更深入的了解，問題已逐漸解決。

在搜集資料方面，每一期的《壹週刊》當然是重要的材料，但論文有些部份需分析《壹週刊》的內容及對社會的影響，亦因將不同材料套入論文主題作比較， 要配合《壹週刊》及其他相關雜誌作為例子，所以需要尋找不同年份而又適合的雜誌，是一件比較艱巨的事情。幸好，每當我「出征」香港大學圖書館「香港特藏資料區」時，總會找到些令我驚喜的資料，這可算是研究論文過程中的原動力。

由去年開始定題，其後無間斷地搜集資料、寫作、會見指導老師……重覆以上動作超過十個月的時間。此畢業論文可算是本人「十月懷胎」的孩子吧﹗不知道他/她的體重是否足「六磅四」呢？﹗

一、寫作動機及內容

「當初我在設計學院出來時，滿腔熱誠，很有『火』，畢業後馬上找一份設計的工作。」我一位從事設計行業的朋友這樣對我說。

「但做了半年，就知道根本不是你心中所想的。」他又說：「設計，起初很喜歡，後來很討厭。處處受人掣肘，不是能夠發圍的行業。」

「當一切都不屬於自己的時候，就會覺得什麼都不在乎了。」最後他總結：「我現在已經完全麻目了，設計只是一份工作。我不需要掌聲，收貨就好。」

我聽著他的話，覺得非常悲哀，又可怕。我還沒有畢業，打工的經驗也少，未能完全了解他的感受。但我不斷地想：現實，究竟能將人的理想磨蝕到什麼樣的程度呢?它能夠把人的意志扭曲成什麼模樣呢?我想探究這些問題，於是寫了〈殺寇〉。

二、寫作目標

我想探討一個人的轉變。

與原作者直接對話，固然能直接了解他的心路歷程，然而，這樣的故事想必會流於單調乏味吧，於是我採用了雙故事線發展的模式：「我」除了與創作者交談外，更直接對創作者的作品加以描述。我採用「連載漫畫」作媒介；透過「連載漫畫」的劇情發展，可窺探創作者的心理變化。

But most of these efforts concentrated primarily on forcing the machine to duplicate the Arabetic handwritten forms. Others have practically advocated divorce from the calligraphic tradition rather than enrichment and reform. This is an exploration of the aesthetic opposition lodged against wind power facilities. Taking the recent controversy regarding the proposal of a wind farm off the coast of Cape Cod as an example, I analyze the opponents' claim that such a construction "ruins" or "spoils" the otherwise pristine landscape. After suggesting some strategies of making the structure more aesthetically positive purely on the sensuous level, I propose that this specific issue must be discussed in the context of larger issues: civic environmentalism and the aesthetics of sustainability.

This thesis presents a qualitative inquiry into how the graphic design process is being reconfigured within the new digital media landscape. The literature review looks at the historical relationship between graphic design and technology from the invention of the printing press to the personal computer and reviews how this relationship is again affected by the emergence of the computer as a medium for communication. The products of digital design are no longer static and fixed but are dynamic and progressive.
