Tourism in its current form did not exist until the nineteenth century with the emergence of the railroads. However, crucial developments in mid-eighteenth century Great Britain started the process leading to modem tourism. Over the course of the eighteenth century, the concept behind tourism expanded and its motivations were transformed. Early eighteenth century tourism was associated with wealth and class. United in their various interests by a common desire, tourists sought experience to assist them in their future life. Few of Chaucer’s works provoke such animosity as does his “Clerk’s Tale.” Modern critics are divided by the social and gender issues that to which the tale lends itself. However, the tale was immensely popular to Middle Age audiences and was one of the best loved of the Canterbury Tales. Therefore, to dismiss this tale’s literary values outright, as some critics have done, is a mistake. As an exploration of the themes of disillusionment and the failure of language, Romanian writer Hortensia Papadat-Bengesçu’s “The Man Whose Heart They Could See” would seem to share much with better-known men’s writing on the war such as Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms or Henri Barbusse’s Le Feu: Journal d’une Escouade. But a careful reading of the text reveals some crucial differences from these works. In this study, I explored how nature writing could be seen as healing text. I described some common problems associated with the construction of trauma and grief narratives and examined how nature writers dealt with them. The study began with my frustration at being unable to write a healing narrative for myself and progressed as I integrated research that informed my own writing.

The literature I read included a variety of perspectives, from Jungian and traditional psychotherapy to current writing theory. I used the theory to comment on the nature writing texts as I discovered them. Using the words and …

Sebagian besar mahalah wanita diterbitkan oleh orang INdonesia (majalah wanita Indonesia); sebagian yang lain merupakan majalah asing yang diterbitkan di Indonesia (edisi Indonesia). Dalam tulisan ini dimuat perbandingan isi kedua kelompok majalah wanita tersebut, yang dikaitkan dengan isu tentang perempuan. Dari perbandingan, tampak bahwa isu modernitas, yang terutama diusung majalah wanita asing edisi Indonesia, mempengaruhi tampilan isi majalah wanita Indonesia.

This study reveals that some models of comercial breaks appeared at the Indonesian private television program, e.g. shampoo and soap advertisement, could invite some interpretation and functions. Their appearance could reflect women's surrender facing the action of violence. These article discusses about the metaphor of the women's body and how it becomes a medium that is constructed by two aspects, the power and the beauty. The result shows that the messages of comercial break gave meaningfulness of the pragmatical values, the persuasive or ideological statement and the dialectically comunicative process. This study assesses whether comparatively high prostate cancer incidence rates among white men in Utah represent higher rates among members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS or Mormons), who comprise about 70% of the state's male population, and considers the potential influence screening has on these rates. Methods: Analyses are based on 14,693 histologically confirmed invasive prostate cancer cases among men aged 50 years and older identified through the Utah Cancer Registry between 1985 and 1999. Cancer records were linked to LDS Church membership records to determine LDS status. Poisson regression was used to derive rate …
