This item is part of the Annual Reports and Resolutions subtitle of the ADA Transactions, a serial publication of the annual activities of the ADA House of Delegates (HOD)/Board of Trustees (BOT) made up of three separate subtitles: Annual Reports and Resolutions, Supplements, and Transactions. Generally, the ADA Transactions are published in multiple volumes throughout the year. Older versions include reports from all departments as subsections, while more recent versions include only those of councils, commissions, and committees.

Law and morality now stand as two poles of an American dilemma. We are requiring of law far more than it can deliver, while morality is constitutionally unworkable. However, a third option, viz. philosophical/secular ethics, can provide a viable conceptual-linguistic framework for understanding and achieving the seemingly-elusive unity of national vision.

Records documenting desegregation processes at Armstrong State College from 1966 to 1982. Savannah State College, the historically African-American college of Savannah, is discussed in tandem with Armstrong The records and papers include correspondence, memorandums, official documents, newspapers, pamphlets, minutes, court documents, statistics and various versions of the desegregation plan. ASC and SSC of Savannah, Georgia are most prevalent but other University System of Georgia schools are mentioned as well. Influential people include Henry Ashmore, David Tatel, George Simpson and Peter Holmes.

Three voices dominate Pentateuchal discourse in turn: the omniscient narrator relates the stories of Genesis and Exodus, YHWH delivers the laws of Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers, and Moses combines narrative and law in the rhetoric of Deuteronomy. These three dominant voices of the Pentateuch are interdependent and almost interchangeable: the anonymous narrator, like Moses the scribe, requires both divine inspiration and reader acceptance for authorization of the story; the divine lawgiver requires reader acceptance of human mediation of the commandments; the prophetic scribe depends on authority delegated by both God and readers to interpret the stories, the laws, and the …

Nexus Literary Journal

Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

Beyond The Rhetoric Of Dirty Laundry: Examining The Value Of Internal Criticism Within Progressive Social Movements And Oppressed Communities, Darren L. Hutchinson

Faculty Articles

Several historical reasons explain opposition to the airing of internal criticism by scholars and activists within progressive social movements and by members of subordinate communities. Opponents often contend that such criticism might reinforce negative stereotypes of subordinate individuals and that reactionary movements and activists might appropriate and misuse negative portrayals of the oppressed. A related fear holds that internal criticism will dismantle political unity within oppressed communities and progressive social movements, thereby forestalling social change. While these concerns provide some context for understanding the resistance to internal criticism within progressive social movements, I argue in this essay that they do …

One of the most popular American musicals, The King and I has always been, and probably will forever be, banned in Thailand. Its current Broadway production, ironically, petitioned to premiere in Thailand and, without hesitation, was immediately turned down by the Royal Thai Government. Instead, it was developed in Australia and moved to Broadway where it received critical as well s commercial success.
