One of the first questions asked by newcomers to the Southern Nevada community is "how good is the public school system from kindergarten through college?" (In this case, Nevada Southern University) . Contributing heavily to the idea that Clark County is a good place to raise boys and girls are competitive athletics, from interscholastic to intercollegiate. Many school systems and universities have found that competitive athletics spark academic programs and lead to the fullest development of the individual - which is what education is all about in the first place.

Some understanding of the state of native labor in the Indies is fundamental to an appreciation of post-Conquest society in the New World. The social and economic implications of Indian servitude are of such magnitude that they transcend other more dramatic aspects of Spanish domination in the sixteenth century. For Indian labor--certainly in the first decades--was the base upon which Spanish society reated; without it there waa a very real possibility of the abandonment of many American kingdoms. The word mysticism in the English language has been corrupted and abused by its difference usages in the various disciplines such as religion, poetry, and philosophy. In Islam the only word which refers to a mystic is a Sufi. Sufism, according to its adherents, is the highest form of human experience, the ultimate reality of God. The Sufi theme is "Know thyself and thou wilt know God."

Sufism has been considered by Sufis and by Orientalists as the ancient school of wisdom, of quietism, of attaining the highest union and of purification of the soul. It embodies the strains of …
