It is the purpose of this thesis to trace the Statehood Bill of 1902 through the Senate, giving a brief picture of the leaders and most active participants in the debates, presenting the major arguments of the two opposing factions, and relating the methods used to bring about the defeat of the measure. The purpose of this thesis is to show what copy appeal are current in present day advertising columns as exemplified by advertising appearing in the Milwaukee Journal for the year, 1937. Advertising copy may be divided into many categories, but the most obvious are the distinct groups which appeal either to the senses or to reason.
