William Evelyn Cameron : A Biography, Robert E. Leitch

William Evelyn Cameron was born in Petersburg, Virginia, November 29th. His father, Walker Anderson Cameron, was a cotton broker, descended from Sir Ewan Lochiei, the celebrated chief of Clan Cameron in Scotland.

Among Cameron's distinguished progenitors were Benjamin Harrison, who settled in Virginia in 1630, and was Secretary to the Colony; Sir Dudley Diggs, Master of the Rolla to King Charles l; Colonel William Byrd of Westover; and Edmund Jenings, deputy-governor of the colony from 1706 to 1710.

A study of the significance of [dam] in the Hebrew religious system immediately presents the problem of the meaning of the word which is used in the title. There are two words in the Hebrew language which are translated "blood", [dam] and [netaach]. The word [dam] is listed more than three hundred times in the Hebrew concordance, while the word [netaach] is listed but once as meaning "blood".

Any facts or details that might be given concerning the personal relation between two poets whose lives ran closely side by side, whose environment was practically the same, although they reacted to that environment entirely differently, and from whose works we have derived pleasure or profit, can not but be interesting.  This conviction induces me to present a consecutive account of the development of the relation between Byron and Shelley, and to correlate the several interests that occupied their thoughts.  I have endeavored to portray them, not just as two poets, but as citizens of the actual world.

Philosophic Trend Of American Negro Poetry, George Stevens

This thesis, submitted to Xavier University in partial fulfillment of requirements for a Master of Arts degree in 1939, traces the philosophic trend in American Negro poetry from 1761 to the contemporary period, examining the shift from an idealistic, religiously grounded poetic sensibility toward a naturalistic worldview. Drawing on primary poetry collections, anthologies, and critical studies of Black American literature, the thesis divides its analysis into three literary-historical periods: the Early Period (1761-1865), the Pre-Renaissance Period (1866-1899), and the Renaissance Period (1900 to the time of writing).

This monograph is an analytical study of the character of Sir John Falstaff in The First and Second Parts of Henry The Fourth, and The Merry Wives of Windor, by William Shakespeare, its purpose being to assist in an accurate portrayal of the character upon the stage. It is, then, an acting thesis in three parts: a study of the historical element of the character, analysis of the masterpieces as created by Shakespeare, and an intensive research of the character as portrayed by the best actors from Shakespeare's original production in the Globe Theatre to the present day.

This thesis represents an effort to record, consecutively, a hitherto unpublished narrative of the part which the Moravian immigrants from North Carolina had, in the early settlement of Bartholomew County, Indiana. A previous study of some of the manuscript materials of this thesis, created in the writer, an admiration for the early leader of these Moravians, Martin Hauser. Consequently the work of narrating the happenings and affairs of the community in which he held such a central place, was not a boresome one. The following study of the theology of Clement of Alexandria is an attempt to gain some definite ideas of the theological tenets held by this early Christian. Such a study reveals the fact that Clement did not altogether have a definite theology completely formulated. On some points he has been almost silent - for reasons quite apparent.
