Blue Eyed Rosabel, E Keller
Blue Eyed Rosabel, E Keller
Historic Sheet Music Collection
1. Mothers deem their baby creatures
Crowing in their nurses arms,
To possess the fairest features,
And to show unequall'd charms;
So, my darling, to my thinking,
All earth's warblers dost excel
Thou art fairest, sweetest, rarest
Lovely blue eyed Rosabel
Thou art fairest, sweetest, rarest
Lovely blue eyed Rosabel.
2. Some, of flowers, prefer the roses;
Some delight in lilies pale;
Others choose the scentless posies
Many cowslips of the vale
Thou my darling, to my thinking,
None they graces can excel
Thou of flowers are sweetest, rarest
Lovely, blue eyed Rosabel
Thou of flowers are sweetest rarest
Lovely …

1. 'Tis many years ago, Since we, love, roam'd together,
And faces that we used to see, Are hidden now forever,
But all the haunts we lov'd so well, When we were young and free,
In quiet beauty still remain Down by the sounding sea.
CHORUS: Down by the sea, down by the sea
O! will you e'er forget
The happy hours we've pass'd my love,
Down by the sounding sea?
2. 'Twas there that first we met my love, The time I well remember,
When all the earth was sleeping in The sweetness of September;
'Twas there a princely …

Diary From 1868, Lucinda Lenore Merriss Cornell
The Lucinda Lenore Merriss Cornell Diaries
The 1868 diary of Lucinda Cornell details her life at home. It includes information on births, marriages, and deaths of known persons. She evidently spent much of the year doing housework - churning, washing laundry, ironing, sewing, baking, knitting, etc. - and taking care of her newborn daughter, baby Abby Blanche. This year was hard for Lucinda, who reports being lonely, tired, and sorrowful in many entries. Significant dates include:
January 12: Lucinda's daughter Abby Blanche Cornell is born at 9 in the evening.
January 27: Hears news that Elder Brush committed suicide by hanging.
March 10: Lucinda's first born, …
