Diary Of An Afghan Woman Collection - September 2021

TSOS Interview Gallery

Four women share with us their daily lives in Afghanistan. Join them as they express their love for the country, the people, and each other; and as they share with you their deepest fears and most intimate moments.

They refuse to be silenced as they journey through this new, uncharted chapter in Afghanistan's history.

We at TSOS are honored to provide a platform for their voices to be heard. We will post entries as we receive them. For safety purposes, names have been changed and only avatars (designed with input from each woman) will be used.

Lost In Time And Lost In Space: Chronotopes In Thomas Pynchon’S Against The Day, Stephen Margavio

Poster Presentations

Honors thesis poster presentation.

In his 1937 essay “Forms of Time and of the Chronotope in the Novel,” Russian literary theorist Mikhail Bakhtin coins the term “chronotope” to discuss the inherently interconnected nature of time and space in narrative constructions. According to Bakhtin, there are a number of specific chronotopes (or space/time configurations) that help to define literary genres. Applying Bakhtin’s concepts to Thomas Pynchon’s novel Against the Day (2006), this thesis examines how the idea of narrative space/time can clarify Pynchon’s use of genre to make socio-political commentary. The first chapter of this thesis focuses on Bakhtin’s “road chronotope,” …

Colonialism And Statehood In Oklahoma (Bibliography), Patricia A. Schechter

The Tulsa Race Massacre: Teaching and Learning Resources

The assault in Tulsa was one in a series of attacks by whites on black people and communities in this period, like the Arkansas Race Riot of 1917 and the Chicago Race Riot of 1919. In some ways, these attacks expressed the extreme nationalism and general xenophobia of the World War I era. However, the sources of inequality and racial violence have a deep history. The state of Oklahoma is sharply divided by the legacies of colonialism, slavery, and segregation. This bibliography features books and articles by historians that describe the story of Native Americans, African Americans, and European Americans …

There are faculty and staff members, some who were working at Cardozo at the time, and some who were employed elsewhere. These contributions have been very lightly edited for length and clarity and broken up to provide …
