Tempo is the speed of a piece of music and is measured in beats per minute (BPM). Tempo perception is subjective and may be influenced by the listener’s musical culture. Even for the same tempo, some dances are faster than others depending on the dance and culture. In the present study, we ask whether the speed of dance movements for a given song influences subjective perception of that song’s tempo among listeners with and without prior experience dancing to Latin music.

Previous research suggests that individual differences in musicality may predict groove sensitivity. Groovy music is highly stimulating music that makes listeners want to move while eliciting feelings of pleasure and arousal. Musicality refers to listeners’ affinity to music including musical talent, sophistication, and expertise. Frisson (musical chills) is an intense emotional response to music characterized by goosebumps or a tingling sensation.

Immigration of diverse peoples to America has been continuous since the 16th century, especially in regards to Muslims, who have been an understudied and underrepresented group in historical literature, despite constituting a major faction of the first peoples in this country. The study reinforces why Muslims should be part of the historic narrative including the many contributions they made to the growth and development of the United States, and more broadly, the North American continent.
The Analysis Of Wartime Rape Using Postmodern Feminism In The Conflicts Of Sierra Leone 1991, Bosnia-Herzegovina 1992, Darfur 2003, Allyssa Chua
Undergraduate Research Symposium Posters
The practice of wartime rape has occurred from the ancient times until the present with the United Nations reporting about 2,542 confirmed cases of conflict-related sexual violence in 2020. Estimates tend to be significantly higher, with UNICEF estimating 250,000 rape cases in Sierra Leone’s civil war. Women and girls are disproportionately and deliberately targeted compared to men and boys in sexual violence. This paper uses a postmodern feminist framework in analyzing wartime rape. It contends that the phallocentrism allows rape to become a language of masculine dominance.

Disability Advocacy In Fashion Design, Erin Higinbotham, Susan Macdermott Otd, Otr/L
Spring 2023 Virtual OTD Capstone Symposium
Originally marketed towards older adults followed by children, adaptive fashion greatly impacts the everyday independence of all disabled people. Utilizing the Person-Environment-Occupation model and understanding the relationship between the disabled community, clothing, and occupational participation and again with the fashion company, the designer, and their fulfillment of a need or gap in accessibility lead to the purpose of this capstone of identifying occupational therapy’s role in designing ready-to-wear adaptive clothing through understanding and bridging the gaps in fashion education for designers.
