A Series of Embarrassment is a mini comic that was written and illustrated by Jaimie Winston. This comic was created in March 2024. The mini comic assignment was a given to her in Sequential Art by her professor, Professor Shuchita Mishra. In this piece, it features a young girl named Savannah who creates a comic. She discusses the embarrassing situations she has experienced throughout her life. Her intentions are to make light of embarrassing moments and to not take them so seriously.

The relationship between religion and its institutions, sexuality, and gender is both historically and personally complex, and the intricacy and discourse between these constructs disproportionally affects religious queer and transgender communities.

The "Divine Transgender" concept, embraced by a growing community of proudly religious trans and gender non-conforming people, views bodies that identify with these categories as enlightened to break down restrictive gender binaries and undergo a spiritual self-realization process in the form of transition, becoming closer to God during the journey. Trans childhood has long been infantilized, positioning trans children as passive and powerless beings in need of adult (and governmental) supervision and political intervention – an infantilization which is grounded in cisnormative and heteronormative beliefs about childhood innocence and purity.

Trans children are often seen as disruptive to the social order, and their existence is met with fear, hostility, and punishment. Against this backdrop, trans childhood has become a site of resistance, a space where trans children can challenge and subvert normative understandings of gender and sexuality.

It should be noted that despite the general counterculture of SoCal in the late 1980s, at the time of Tribal's birth, the laid-back attitude of generation X (1965–80),4 which included apathy and disillusion with the political and 92 economic climate (that “grungy” college educated/tech savvy white American generation Xers experienced under Reagan's neo-liberalism and neo-conservatism), was vastly different to Black and Brown youth in major cities across the United States. The Maine Career Exploration (MCE) Program is a two-year pilot initiative designed to connect young people with Maine’s economy through hands-on, age-appropriate career exploration experiences. Launched in 2022 with funding from Governor Janet Mills’ Jobs and Recovery Plan, the program seeks to provide meaningful paid work experiences, expand career exploration programming in schools and communities, and create sustainable infrastructure to support long-term career readiness opportunities across the state.
