The 1869 meeting of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association took place at Double Springs Church (present day: Double Springs Baptist Church) in Shelby, NC. The introductory sermon was delivered by Elder George W. Rollins and the circular letter authored by G. M. Webb. The association elected to suspend the practice of writing circular letters. The Committee on Periodicals recommends that associational member subscribe to the Working Christian, published by Elder T. R. Gaines of Yorkville, SC, in addition to the Biblical Recorder. The Committee on Missions reports that the association has "done nothing for domestic or foreign missions" and credits …

This is a handwritten copy of a deed from John B. Cornell and Lucinda L. Cornell, husband and wife, to Alice J. Cornell. This legal document, dated August 27, 1869, deeds land previously owned by John and Lucinda to Alice. The document was amended on September 23, 1899, when Lucinda independently reaffirmed "that she is still satisfied" with the deed after her husband's death.

This photograph, taken 1869 at White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, is the last photograph of Robert E. Lee before his death in 1870. Seen by some as a symbol of early reconciliation between North and South, the image features Lee (seated, 2nd from left) alongside George Peabody (seated, 3rd from left). Peabody was a British-American industrialist and philanthropist who supported the Union during the war, but was fêted by fellow guests at the Springs in 1869 for his postwar generosity and investment in the Southern education system.
