A Drawing a Day Keeps the Pandemic Away
The project is called A Drawing a Day Keeps the Pandemic Away. We created it on March 17th, which was the day when we realized that we weren’t going to be able to go back into the museum and continue installing the exhibitions we had been planning to open on March 27th. People were asking us what we, as an art museum, were going to do to reach out to the community during the pandemic shutdown and honestly we were wondering that ourselves, so we had an online brainstorming session and came up with the idea of posting a daily …

Women’S Rights Are Human Rights: The Story Of Abortion Laws And The Women Affected, Skylar Locke, Allison Burk
Women’S Rights Are Human Rights: The Story Of Abortion Laws And The Women Affected, Skylar Locke, Allison Burk
Transformations: Research Papers
The purpose of our project is to educate viewers on the history of abortion in the United States and the women affected by abortions. In the 21st century, the topic of abortion is over-politicalized and as a result, we tend to overlook the suffering and obstacles women encounter and are forced to overcome in these situations. We aim to de-stigmatize abortions with our project. Our unique abortion timeline includes three different components: the abortion laws and events beginning in the mid-1800s, the true, personal stories of women who are affected by these laws and abortions, and the different abortion resources …

The Promethean, Volume 28, The Last Torch, 2020, English Department, Concordia University-Portland
The Promethean
In September, we did not know that this edition of The Promethean would truly be the last. Riding the wave of Blue Apocalypse, our editors sat in front of each other composing a pool of possible themes. We wanted a title that captured the loss of the College of Arts & Sciences at Concordia University – Portland.
We were still present, learning, and generating beautiful work, despite mourning a gaping wound. We wanted to remind those around us—and even ourselves—that the literary heart of this university still burned with passion, talent, and perseverance.
When I suggested The Last Torch …

Post Traumatic Slave Disorder And Relationships: Revisiting Relations Of Black Men And Women., Melannie Atkinson
Post Traumatic Slave Disorder And Relationships: Revisiting Relations Of Black Men And Women., Melannie Atkinson
Transformations: Presentation Slides
A question that I have for people in the African American Community is; Why is it that many friendships seem to excel but when it comes to relationship status the connection between African American men and women is hard to come by? For hundreds of years we have seen the effect of Modern-day slavery to the people in the African American Community and this is one. Most African Americans have been stuck in a mindset that we should never and will never be connected as one mentally, emotionally and physically through love in society. In this paper I will argue …

Strikes On Central Ave- The Closure Of Brockway Motor Trucks And The End Of Huskietown, Usa, Lucas Kaczynski
Transformations: Research Papers
My essay discusses the end of Brockway Motor Company in Cortland, New York in 1977 and the events that lead to the shutdown of one of America's most dependable and iconic brands of heavy duty trucks. The death of Brockway Trucks represented not only a tremendous loss for the Cortland community, but also trends throughout the United States of consolidation and deindustrialization in American industry in the 1970s. Through an examination of local newspapers and employee accounts of labor disputes and conflict with Brockway's parent company, Mack, this essay explains how the company that produced "the most rugged truck in …

Production Audio For Non-Fiction Video: A Beginner's Field Guide, R. Ryan Weibush
Production Audio For Non-Fiction Video: A Beginner's Field Guide, R. Ryan Weibush
Open Educational Resources (OER) at University of Montana
The intention of this text is to be a practical field guide, to be referenced before, after, and, if needed, during a non-fiction production. While the term “non-fiction” may refer to a wide variety of production styles, the only two covered in depth here are the “run & gun” style, and the “talking head” interview. These often serve as the scaffolding, so to speak, of a variety of videos from web-based to documentary films.

A Reluctant Icon: Letters To Neil Armstrong, James R. Hansen
Purdue University Press Book Previews
Artfully curated by James R. Hansen, A Reluctant Icon: Letters to Neil Armstrong is a companion volume to Dear Neil Armstrong: Letters to the First Man from All Mankind, collecting hundreds more letters Armstrong received after first stepping on the moon until his death in 2012. Providing context and commentary, Hansen has assembled the letters by the following themes: religion and belief; anger, disappointment, and disillusionment; quacks, conspiracy theorists, and ufologists; fellow astronauts and the world of flight; the corporate world; celebrities, stars, and notables; and last messages. Taken together, both collections provide fascinating insights into the world of …
Teaching The Empire: Education And State Loyalty In Late Habsburg Austria, Scott O. Moore
Teaching The Empire: Education And State Loyalty In Late Habsburg Austria, Scott O. Moore
Purdue University Press Book Previews
Teaching the Empire explores how Habsburg Austria utilized education to cultivate the patriotism of its people. Public schools have been a tool for patriotic development in Europe and the United States since their creation in the nineteenth century. On a basic level, this civic education taught children about their state while also articulating the common myths, heroes, and ideas that could bind society together. For the most part historians have focused on the development of civic education in nation-states like Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. There has been an assumption that the multinational Habsburg Monarchy did not, or could …
