Encyclopedia of Saints: A Database of Saints of the Catholic Church was written and designed to provide students in grades two through eight with a database file of searchable information about saints of the Catholic church. Saints included in the database came from the Litany of Saints prayer, saints listed in the official calendar of the Catholic church, saints mentioned in three religion textbook series, and saint names cross-referenced to the most common names given to babies at birth. Biographical information was compiled from fourteen collective biographical sources and placed in nine fields of the database. This database will enable …

This recital was prepared and presented in partial fulfillment of the Master of Music in Flute Performance degree requirements. The pieces presented represent a variety of musical styles, historical periods, and instrumental combinations. The purpose of this abstract is to provide a brief overview of the works performed and to offer insights into the historical context of each piece. Knowledge gained in writing this document was valuable to the performer in preparing the recital.

This thesis offers a phenomenological approach to four examples of early British espionage fiction; by discussing the experiences of four protagonists with their perceptions of reality, the study also gives a reconsideration to the literary essence of the figure of the spy of early British espionage stories. In attempting the combination of phenomenology and espionage fiction, the thesis first of all reviews the canon of criticism on British espionage fiction in general. The purposes of this study were to identify the advantages and disadvantages of waterless litho in comparison with traditional litho, to solve the controversial issues, to forecast the growth of waterless litho, and to inform graphic arts professionals about it. The problem of this research was to identify and measure perceived controversial issues for using the waterless litho process. These controversial issues were related to the return on investment and operating costs involved, productivity, quality of images, eco-friendliness, and technical problems associated with waterless litho.

Feminist theory has long been concerned with identity politics, and feminists have grappled with the ideologies and identities of race, sex, gender, and sexuality, to name only a few. Psychoanalytic theorist Teresa Brennan and postmodern theorist Judith Butler combine feminism with their respective fields in their quests to figure out how subjectivities are created, and why some people are objectified or created as objects, while others are created as subjects. Seven years later, I stood before high school students in Ames, Iowa, with the proposition that we study media as a collection of cultural artifacts. Behind many of our discussions was the assumption that media convey values and that these values influence our personal values. What was missing from my instruction was an organizational structure that would help students see the necessary patterns, methods and stereotypes in order to better comprehend the values in these messages.

Literature Based Social Studies Versus Textbook Based Social Studies, Kathrine Jean Kellogg

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of literature based social studies versus textbook based social studies in mastery of information. Using a pre-test and a post-test, control group, experimental design, and a t-test for non-independent variables, it was found that the experimental group achieved higher test scores than the control group. Results of the t-test yield a t-value of 3.00 with 18 degrees of freedom with a .05 level of significance. This shows that the results are 95% certain that the differences between the two groups' performances on the post test are due to the variation …

This literature review explored the system of education in South Africa. The exploration provided the background information about the unequal and segregated system of education which led to student uprisings in 1976. The curriculum became an area of contestation, and was thus attacked by leading educators, parents, teachers, and students. The people of South Africa called for a single, national, unitary system of education for all South African students. A multicultural education was proposed to unify a deeply divided nation and to support the new nation being born.

The Prelude BWV 999 exists as a copy written down by a friend of Bach, Johann Peter Kellner. The title is "Praelude in C Mol/pour la lute/di Johann Sebastian Bach." The transposition to D minor from the original C minor for lute matches the requirements of the modern classical guitar. The Prelude is forty-three measures long. A one-measure rhythmic pattern is consistently used through the piece. After establishing D minor in the first seven measures, the work proceeds toward the key of A through a sixteen-measure pedal point on the dominant E from measure 1 7 through measure 32. This …

A Whole Range of Women is a novel which challenges prevalent notions about the value of many kinds of female creativity. At the beginning of the story, one of the main characters is sculpting a collection of famous North American women. She soon decides she would rather celebrate the creativity exhibited by women in their daily lives. The development of this idea is one of the main themes of the novel.
