This research paper is a phenomenological analysis of a creative project involving University of Northern Iowa undergraduate art students in the planning and creation of visual illustrations, graphic design concepts, .html documents, and imagery for a world wide web intranet/lnternet virtual space.

This analysis looks at instructional design as a creative process and the phenomenology of the UNI Art/Cat (Art Resources Technology/Computer Assisted Training) computer laboratory. The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalent characteristics and elements of young adult poetry by examining a random sample of poems by Mel Glenn and Paul Janeczko. The characteristics and elements include themes, subjects, and other items of apparent relevance to teenagers' lives.

Because poems are the data being studied, a qualitative approach is utilized. More specifically, textual analysis is employed because this type of analysis is focused upon text.

The emphasis for my master of arts painting thesis has been the landscape. I chose to explore the subject of intimate settings within the landscape as I wanted the observer to feel as if he or she was within the closely-viewed scene. My focus was the challenge of capturing the effects of filtered light, silhouetted trees, abstract shapes and reflections in intimate settings. The purpose of this research paper was to recognize Hanay Geiogamah's contributions to Native American ritual drama and how Geiogamah and his Native American drama incorporates the culture and rituals of Native Americans in the theatrical environment.

Hanay Geiogamah has a purpose in his plays to present and preserve living Indian traditions and to reveal the facts of Indian life in America today (Huntsman, "New" xi). Nineteenth century America was a period of transition. Reform movements paralleled and sometimes replaced politics as idealistic people worked for a cornucopia of social causes. Believing man capable of finding a universally correct lifestyle, numerous activists designed communities to guide the world to peace and prosperity. One of these groups, the Icarians, following the teachings of their founder Etienne Cabet, built several utopian hamlets in the United States and existed for over half a century. When World war II began in September 1939, polls indicated that most Americans believed it did not pose a threat to the United States and opposed any involvement by a ratio of 27-to-1.

President Franklin Roosevelt perceived that the power of Nazi Germany and its ideals posed a threat to American democracy. He presented the war to the American public as a moral struggle as well as one for security. The President publicized this view most notably in his Four Freedoms speech and in the Atlantic Charter. Two base camps, along with their branch camps, located in the state of Iowa will provide the focus for this study. The camps in Iowa, located near the towns of Algona and Clarinda, provide an example of two camps that met or exceeded the criteria set by the Geneva Convention of 1929. The creation and administration of the camps raises three questions which constitute the body of this thesis. The first deals with the founding, administration and operation of the camps. The recital consisted of three art songs by Gaetano Donizetti, a selection of art songs from Franz Schubert's Schwanengesang, Samuel Barber's Dover Beach, and Maurice Ravel's Don Quichotte á Dulcinee.

The purposes of this paper are three-fold. The first purpose is to discuss the homophobic stereotypes and discriminatory campus environments with which gay, lesbian, and bisexual students must deal on a daily basis. The second purpose is to discuss the negative effects these practices have on gay, lesbian, and bisexual students' college experience. The final, and main purpose of this paper, is to provide suggestions on how student affairs professionals can provide a positive campus climate for gay, lesbian, and bisexual students.
