The Spiders Of Nebraska, Leonard G. Worley, Gayle B. Pickwell
The Spiders Of Nebraska, Leonard G. Worley, Gayle B. Pickwell
University Studies (University of Nebraska) (1888–1984)
Lawrence Bruner, in the early days of his work in Nebraska, made a collection of the spiders that he came upon during his collecting trips in various parts of the state and these specimens were later identified by George Marx, one of the older archaeologists. Marx's list of identifications was sent to Professor Bruner in a letter dated July 26, 1893, but in the years that have passed since that time the specimens themselves have been lost and all that remains is the list as it appears in the letter. This list includes 107 species, of which 8 cannot now …
Some Aspects Of The Intellectual Poise Of George Robert Gissing, Glenn Orville Kelley
Some Aspects Of The Intellectual Poise Of George Robert Gissing, Glenn Orville Kelley
Department of English: Dissertations, Theses, and Student Research
Thls study, Some Aspects of the Intellectual Poise of George Robert Gising, had its inception in a course in The Novel, an Intepretation of Life, offered by Doctor Frederick A. Stuff in the summer session of the University of Nebraska in 1926. More narrowly, it began with that part of the course treating of the mode in literature known as realism. In one reference, Wilson Follett's The Modern Novel, was found the following statement relative to the novels of George Gissing, an author of whom the writer of this thesis had not previously heard.

Nebraska Tractor Tests
All tractors tested at the Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory were certified by their manufacturers as being stock model machines, conforming to specifications filed with the application for test. No special or high-test fuels were used except as recommended by the manufacturer as necessary.
All results within the official tractor test report were actually attained in tests and are without correction or allowances for friction, temperature, altitude, etc. The results were initially accomplished with the tractor in charge of skilled operators employed by the University.
Unless otherwise noted, each tractor was apparently in good condition at the end of the testing …
The Etymology Of An English Expletive, Louise Pound
The Etymology Of An English Expletive, Louise Pound
Department of English: Faculty Publications
Professor G. P. Krapp makes an attractive case for his derivation of darn, darned in the brief essay on this word in his recent The English Language in America. He discards the usual explanation that darn is a variant or minced form of damn, and believes that, although it now stands in intimate relation to damn, it had an independent origin. He takes as his starting point the Old English adjective dierne, 'secret,' Middle English derne, Elizabethan dern, and assumes a transition from a descriptive adjective or adverb to an imprecation. The adjective took …

Described as “a work of Indigenous empowerment,” this novel was completed in 1912 but remained unpublished until 1927. It begins:
It was sunset on the river Pend d’Oreille. The last rays of the day-God, glinting through the tangled vines screening the great porch of the homestead of the Horseshoe Brand Ranch, fell upon a face of rare type. Of mixed blood, was Cogewea; a “breed”!—the socially ostracized of two races. Her eyes of the …

OH, THIS is the tale the grandams tell
In the land where the grass is blue,
And some there are who say'tis false,
And some that hold it true.

Came to his mother's door;
His eyes were ringed for want of sleep;
His heart was troubled sore.
He knelt him at his mother's side;
She stroked his curly head.
"I've come to be advised of you;
Advise me well," he said.
"For there are two who love me well—
I wot it from each mouth—
And one's Fair London, lily maid,
And pride of …
