An account of the archaeological research done by the Society of Colonial Wars in investigating the Jireh Bull homestead in Washington County, Rhode Island. The homestead had been fortified for defensive purposes during King Phillips War, but had been attacked and burned by the Indians on December 15, 1675 with the loss of some fifteen lives.

The point in question is whether or not the origin of the Rosary is Dominican in nature.

The author details the events leading up to the Battle of Lake Erie (September 10, 1813) and Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry’s role in defeating the British fleet. The victory ensured American control of the lake for the rest of the war, which in turn allowed for the recovery of Detroit from the British. It was one of the biggest naval battles of the War of 1812.

Compline, the last service of the day, while a simple part of the official daily prayer of the Church, has a special place in the hearts of Dominicans especially due to the procession afterwards during which the brothers and sisters sing the "Salve Regina", a medieval antiphon to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and then the antiphon to Saint Dominic "O lumen ecclesiae".

As time went by with fewer friars in each community, the Compline became one of the few parts of the daily official prayer (Divine Office) which remained completely sung because of its relatively simple and repetitive nature.

This document includes the full text of Colonel Israel Angell's Diaries compiled by Edward Field and published in 1899. It also includes the text of three manuscript diaries from the collections of the Massachusetts Historical Society in Boston, Massachusetts. These diaries were transcribed and digitized by Norman Desmarais and inserted in their proper location in Field's text. The diaries are organized here by the year of coverage rather than by the individual manuscripts as in Field's book. The five chronological sections of this combined text are also available as individual downloads in the supplemental materials section of this page.
