"Man does not live by bread alone ... " Human life embraces more than just 'living' (material survival); the human soul thrives on many ambiguous metaphysical elements. One of these elements is beauty. The question motivating this article is the ubiquitous 'why'; why do people find beauty in various elements of their environment? Put another way, what is it that enables one to appreciate beauty? The thesis of this article is that a person's ability to appreciate beauty is a result of being created in the image of God.

An Analysis Of The Literary Structure Of The Book Of Revelation According To Textlinguistic Methods, Steven L. Waechter

The purpose of this dissertation is to apply discourse analysis (textlinguistics) to the Book of Revelation. This research has two outcomes. It adds to the body of literature validating discourse analysis as a viable and useful tool for biblical studies. It also suggests a literary framework for the Book of Revelation, with particular attention to discourse segmentation and peak. The procedure used in this dissertation has five steps. First, notional type is evaluated on the basis of speech-act theory and a combination of contingent temporal succession and agent orientation. Examines how the protagonist in Nathaniel Hawthorne's short story `Ethan Brand' searched for what is considered the `unpardonable sin' of divorcing one's head from one's heart and oneself from humanity. An Exegetical And Theological Examination Of Matthew 5:17-20, Marc A. Clauson

Recent polemics relating to the use and validity of the Mosaic Law make a reexamination of some of the key Biblical passages imperative as well as a rethinking of the basic framework by which the issue of the Law is discussed. Matthew 5:17-20 is a passage often used by all sides in the Law debate and is here analyzed as to its relevance to the Law issue. This periscope is Jesus' programmatic statement about his mission with respect to the Law. The passage clearly states that the Law is not abolished and this truism serves as the broadest interpretational framework …
