Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
With the expanding of western frontiers of the United States came the pioneer missionaries and preachers. These preachers were men of God who feared not man nor beast, but preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ "to the uttermost part of the earth."
Among these fearless men were ministers of the Methodists, the Evangelical Association, and others who had pledged themselves to bring the message of scriptural holiness to the new and expanding area of the great Northwest.

A History Of The Clark County Holiness Association: Vancouver, Washington, Leonard Eugene Weinert
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
The history of hte Clark County Holiness Association, cannot be adequately understood without first tracing the events connected with the early beginnings of this historic country. Thus, a considerable amount of attention is given to these beginnings which are related to the discovery and settlement of Fort Vancouver.
A Critical Study Of Mormon Doctrine, Dwaine L. Bassett
A Critical Study Of Mormon Doctrine, Dwaine L. Bassett
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
The importance of any movement may be determined, in part, by its claims. If these claims are true, they will demand careful attention of all concerned. The Mormon Church claims to represent "the restoration or the Gospel of Jesus Christ." The foundation for this assertion is based on the Book of Mormon. This Book states; that the Bible in its original form contained a true revelation from God.2 This Church maintained that the Gospel was not retained in its pure and simple form, for following the apostle~ there arose an "abominable church" which deleted many plain and precious parts of …
A Comparative Study Of Four Contemporary Views On The Differences Between The Carnal And Spiritual Christian, Edgar Frederick Albee
A Comparative Study Of Four Contemporary Views On The Differences Between The Carnal And Spiritual Christian, Edgar Frederick Albee
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Since the days of Calvin and Arminius there has been theological controversy among the various branches of evangelical Protestantism. The underlying cause of this struggle has been the differences of convictions concerning the sin problem that have existed between these groups, and because many of these differences have culminated in bitterness, the Kingdom of God on earth has suffered great reverses. The vital need of the hour among the various evangelical denominations is a redefining of each other's point of view in order that a harmonious relationship be established among these groups.
A Comparative Study Of Some Contemporary Views On The Great Tribulation Period, Harvey Ernest Bartram
A Comparative Study Of Some Contemporary Views On The Great Tribulation Period, Harvey Ernest Bartram
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
This investigation was centered around the problem and purpose of studying the various views, comparing interpretation with interpretation, in the light of the Holy Scriptures, in order to come to such a conclusion that convictions might be had as the the real teaching of the Word of God on this matter, that the people of God might receive the blessings promised.

A Comparative Study Of Views On Prayer As Held By E.M. Bounds, Andrew Murray And George Arthur Buttrick, Howard W. Perry
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Prayer is an interesting subject to some; to others it is foolishness and nonsense., Because men are curious beings and desire to know, and because knowledge is hidden from the wise and revealed unto babes it was studied to see what good was derived from prayer.
A Critical Study Of The Problem Of Religious Authority Within Western Christendom, Carl-Reid Duhrkoop
A Critical Study Of The Problem Of Religious Authority Within Western Christendom, Carl-Reid Duhrkoop
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
For centuries, the human mind has struggled with the problem of ultimate truth, but many times it has been turned back frustrated. Some have gone so far as to deny any possibility of having certain knowledge . Others would echo the question of Pontius Pilate: "What is truth?" To these uncertain ones, Pilate's question refers to whether or not there' are any val id norms, or if any objective standard actually exists. Their answer would be that they do not know "for sure" .
A Proposed Plan And Curriculum For Teacher-Training In The Oregon-Washington Conference Of The Evangelical United Brethren Church, Robert D. Bennett
A Proposed Plan And Curriculum For Teacher-Training In The Oregon-Washington Conference Of The Evangelical United Brethren Church, Robert D. Bennett
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Throughout its history, the work of the Sunday school has been willingly carried out by corps of godly, voluntary workers. The major portioned of the educational efforts of the Church has fallen upon this agency. These volunteers have carried on their work with little training in educational principles and techniques. They have had but little more personal training in the systematic study of the Bible, the history of the Church, and its doctrines. God has honored these sincere, conscientious efforts with a measure of success which has resulted largely from native ability. In order that future efforts might be more …
A Comparative Study Of The Views Concerning The Antichrist As Held By Joseph A. Seiss, William E. Blackstone, And Arno C. Gaebelein, Arthur Cobb
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
The world today has troubled visions of what tomorrow will bring in the realm of politics. The relations between a man and his fellow men, a nation and her sister nations, the world and its Ruler, occupy a large place in modern thought. This concern about the future, and what it will bring, has been the motivating force of this study of the doctrine of the Antichrist.

A Comparative Study Of The Problem Of Evil As Set Forth In The Views Of John W. Fletcher, Edgar Sheffield Brightman, And Edwin Lewis, Norman A. Riggins
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
The Problem of Evil stands as one of the major topics of Philosophy and Theology throughout the history of thought. The very nature of evil is elusive to the unaided human reason, and presents much room for speculation. This does not minimize the problem for, "In a day such as this, men and women are seriously troubled with the problem of evil." The fact of evil cannot be escaped, therefore it is of prime importance to all who attempt to think through on the major problems of life. Evil is around us on every hand. "We try to ignore it …
A Study Of The Wesleyan Doctrine Of Entire Sanctification In The Light Of The Apostle Paul's Use Of The Term "Flesh", Bern Madison Warren
A Study Of The Wesleyan Doctrine Of Entire Sanctification In The Light Of The Apostle Paul's Use Of The Term "Flesh", Bern Madison Warren
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
The problem under consideration was an investigation of the Wesleyan doctrine of entire sanctification in the light of the Apostle Paul's use of the term "flesh" (sarx). No term, in connection with this doctrine, needs more careful study and analysis than does the word "flesh" as Paul used it in his New Testament epistles. Paul so closely identified this term with sin and salvation from sin that no one can adequately apprehend hamartiology (the doctrine of sin) and soteriology (the doctrine of salvation from sin) and ignore the Apostle's use of' the word "flesh" Therefore, the problem centered around the …

A New Testament Study Of The Gifts Of The Holy Spirit With Special Reference To The Wesleyan Doctrine Of Entire Sanctification, Oliver Raymond Ketterling
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
There ha s long existed a difference of opinion regarding the relationship of the gifts of the Holy Spirit to His work of entire sanctification in the heart of the Christian believer. Some groups have tended to overrate the place of gifts while others have seemingly rejected them altogether.

A Study Of The Church School Methods In The Oregon-Washington Conference Of The Evangelical United Brethren Church In The Light Of Modern Educational Procedure, Wesley Lawrence Wildermuth
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Religion and education have been compatible down through the ages. Where there has been religion there has bee education in order to propagate the beliefs of religion. A proper system of education is necessary for the furtherance of the Gospel of Christ.
It is the purpose of this study 1) to determine the teaching methods used in the Oregon-Washington Conference of the Evangelical United Brethren Church, through an investigation of the teachers, the church school superintendents and the pastors in the conference; 2) to point out a few of the basic emphases of modern educational procedure; and 3) to make …

A Study Of The Epistle To The Hebrews In The Light Of The Basic Principles Of Biblical Typology, F. Clifford Johnson
A Study Of The Epistle To The Hebrews In The Light Of The Basic Principles Of Biblical Typology, F. Clifford Johnson
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
For a number of years the writer of this thesis has been wanting to make a study of typology as found in God's Holy Word, to determine what types are, or are not. The purpose of this study was to clearly set forth the basic principles which govern types in the Scriptures as presented by various reliable sources, and to use these as a guide in this study of the Epistle to the Hebrews. This work has been limited to this Epistle, first, because its contents are largely a fulfillment of types, and secondly, because the field of typology would …

A Study Of The Doctrine Of The Holy Spirit In The Old Testament As Related To Old Testament Religious Experience, Walter D. Elmer
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
A well rounded knowledge of Biblical truth ha s been found to be impossible apart from a basic study of the relationship between the ministry of the Spirit of God and Old Testament religious experience. The importance of this study has reminded this investigator of the importance Jesus attached to a careful consideration of all the parts of a problem before venturing a solution.

Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Excerpt: "Today the eyes of the world are watching with keen interest the affairs of the Jewish people in the Holy Land. Whether or not an individual has been a student of the Bible, he is nevertheless cognizant of the fact that there are taking place in Palestine some things which have not occurred there before.
It has been significant to note that for many years the Jews have been the object of study not only by Biblical scholars but also by statesmen and politicians. Scholars and common people alike have always found it difficult to account for the Jew. …

The Extent And Influences Of The Holiness Revival In America, 1860-1900, Robert D. Bletscher
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Few factors have shaped the history of our nation more than the factor of religion. This has been especially true during the times of great revival endeavor. Beginning with the Great Awakening, in the middle part of the eighteenth century, and extending to the present, America has been blessed with several revival movements which have helped to preserve her mighty heritage. Their influences have been manifold, touching every aspect of life. They have affected the social, economic, political, and moral life of the nation.
These revivals have been widely different in nature and sphere of influence. They have affected different …

A Study Of Two Early Theologians At Drew Theological Seminary: Randolph S. Foster And John Miley, Paul Gerhadt Hvidding
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
In all branches of learning there is a perennial need to check-up on material to determine if progress is being made and to note where a dead-end has been reached or actual retrogression has taken place. In no field is this check-up more necessary than in the field of theology and philosophy .

A Study Of The Relation Of Christian Conduct To Christian Experience In The Light Of Biblical Truth And Selected Biographical And Autobiographical Data, Kenneth Koth
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Man's experience of salvation, both the first experience (initial salvation) and the second experience (entire sanctification) are for the most part individual and personal. The manifestations of these personal experiences, however, are seen in one's conduct in relation to other people. Thus, it is through conduct that the reality of the personal experience is seen and known by others.
It has been the purpose of this paper to present a proper Christian view of the problem which arises, in the minds of Christians and non-Christians alike, when variations in the conduct of equally devout people, holding similar doctrinal beliefs, are …
A Comparative Study Of Some Modern Views Of Divine Healing As They Relate Themselves To The Holy Scriptures, Austin Albert Chamberlain
A Comparative Study Of Some Modern Views Of Divine Healing As They Relate Themselves To The Holy Scriptures, Austin Albert Chamberlain
Western Evangelical Seminary Theses
Excerpt: "The question of physical healing has commanded the attention and thinking of men not only in this age but in all the ages of the past. The need of physical healing has driven man hopefully into the practice of healing. The world in which men find themselves now is a world which teaches the sufficiency of man to cope with the problems that arise. It is also a world of realities in which the sick and injured suffer pain. The hope of complete recovery is in deed something to be desired."
