Ten Little Indians, Alvin Community College Jan 1994

Ten Little Indians, Alvin Community College

Season 1994-1995

"Ten Little Indians" is a mystery thriller based on Agatha Christie's novel And Then There Were None about ten strangers who are invited to a secluded island under false pretenses. Once they arrive, they are accused of past crimes that went unpunished. Soon, they begin dying one by one in ways that mirror a sinister nursery rhyme. As fear and suspicion grow, the survivors realize the killer must be among them. The play is a tense whodunit that explores guilt, justice, and paranoia.

Ello Dispara De Fermín Cabal: Hacia Una Configuración Posmoderna Del Espacio Textual/Teatral, Sharon G. Feldman Jan 1994

Ello Dispara De Fermín Cabal: Hacia Una Configuración Posmoderna Del Espacio Textual/Teatral, Sharon G. Feldman

Latin American, Latino and Iberian Studies Faculty Publications

"Tweaked Roman" In The Menaechmus Twins By Plautus, William Grange Jan 1994

"Tweaked Roman" In The Menaechmus Twins By Plautus, William Grange

Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film: Faculty Publications and Creative Activity

Why do a production of The Menaechmus Twins by Plautus at Marquette University in Milwaukee? Most people think of Milwaukee as the city of Laverne and Shirley, where a large percentage of the population is employed in one of numerous breweries, and citizens spend their non-working hours in bowling alleys or at fish fries. True, Milwaukee boasts more bowling alleys per capita than any other city in the country, but Milwaukee has more Equity theatres than breweries, one of which is an outstanding LORT A repertory theatre with an international reputation. The University itself features a major in classics, and …

Review Of "Glaube Liebe Hoffnung" By Ödön Von Horváth At Staatsschaupiel Dresden., William Grange Jan 1994

Review Of "Glaube Liebe Hoffnung" By Ödön Von Horváth At Staatsschaupiel Dresden., William Grange

Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film: Faculty Publications and Creative Activity

Glaube Liebe Hoffnung marks the first time a Horváth play has ever been performed in Dresden, a fact remarkable in view of the city’s importance as a theatre center. In the 1920s Dresden was home to at least seven theatres, though none of them were particularly noted for premiering new plays. That Horváth has never been performed here is a reflection of the repressive cultural policy of the old German Democratic Republic; productions of Geschichten aus dem Wienerwald and of Kasimir und Karoline took place in East Germany after the “Horváth revival” in the late 1960s, but those productions did …

Gombrowicz And Faust, Allen J. Kuharski Jan 1994

Gombrowicz And Faust, Allen J. Kuharski

Theater Faculty Works

My introduction to Jan Kott was through his Theatre Notebook 1947–1967, which for me still captures the paradoxes of the man and his work. For all his cosmopolitanism, his work on Shakespeare, and his many years of life in exile, Kott remains very much an embodiment of the vitality of the post-war Polish theatre he helped to establish and later promoted abroad – this in spite of his disclaimer of being any kind of ‘expert’ on the contemporary Polish stage. Kott has always shown the best qualities of a theatre artist: lack of pretension, seemingly boundless energy, an immediacy of …

The Feminine Other: A Study Of The Women In Shakespeare's Major Tragedies, Kurt E. Wilamowski Jan 1994

The Feminine Other: A Study Of The Women In Shakespeare's Major Tragedies, Kurt E. Wilamowski

Masters Theses

The central examination of this thesis concentrates on the essential contributions of the female characters in Shakespeare's major tragedies--Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth. Without the women's conflict with the patriarchal order, the males would be unable to recognize and combat the corrupt elements in their society. The awareness of the female characters allows them to perceive the tainted patriarchal atmosphere they dwell in and operate within it as best as they can.

In short, each woman's individual field of awareness allows her to act as the executor of the dénoucement in the tragedy. Even …
