Women Who Steal, Otterbein University Theatre And Dance Department
Women Who Steal, Otterbein University Theatre And Dance Department
2001 Summer Theatre
Carter W. Lewis' new play introduces us to Peggy and Karen, the latter of whom has recently commited, as they say, adultery with the former's husband. Women Who Steal is about the aftermath of that revelation, and it's a hilarious, tightly constructed joy ride, complete with squealing tires and tequila-chugging and Meat Loaf -- yes: Meat Loaf! -- blaring from the car radio. How these women deal with each other as they attempt to resolve the resultant conflict and stress, how they interact with the different men in their lives, is played out in a story that reaches the fullness …

Oklahoma!, Otterbein University Theatre And Dance Department
2000-2001 Season
The first collaboration of famed partners Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, Oklahoma! set the American musical theatre standard. Set in Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the 20th Century, the spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the backdrop for the love story between Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a beautiful farm girl. The road to true love is anything but smooth, but there is no doubt that these two romantics will succeed in making a life together. As the road to romance and the road to statehood converge, Curly and Laurey are poised …
“To Please A Child”: A Practical Analysis Of A Children's Theatre Production From Planning To Performance, Brian James Warren
“To Please A Child”: A Practical Analysis Of A Children's Theatre Production From Planning To Performance, Brian James Warren
Theses and Dissertations - UTB/UTPA
The purpose of this creative thesis and study was to examine, through a comprehensive analysis of the processes, how an original children's play was conceived, written, and produced, using the play Enough of the Huff and Puff, as the study's basis.
The study begins with an examination of goals of the drama program at South Texas Community College, and subsequently establishes a justification for children's theatre. It continues with a detailed analysis of how the play came to be written. Also included are, as the title indicates, explanations of practical considerations such as staging difficulties encountered and overcome, casting …

Foreign-Language Comedy Production In The Third Reich, William Grange
Foreign-Language Comedy Production In The Third Reich, William Grange
Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film: Faculty Publications and Creative Activity
The two most frequently performed non-German comic playwrights on German-language stages from 1933 to 1944 were Carlo Goldoni (1707-1793) and Oscar Wilde (1854-1900), whose plays served the purposes of cultural transmission both by the theatre establishment and the political regime in power at the time. Goethe had seen Goldoni productions in Venice during his "Italian Journeys" between 1786 and 1788, and he reported that never in his life had he heard such "laughter and bellowing at a theatre." It remains unclear whether he meant laughing and bellowing on the part of audiences or the actors, but since his other remarks …
