The 1936 meeting of the Kings Mountain Baptist Association took place at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. The introductory sermon was delivered by W. G. Camp. The State Missions report indicated that great work is being done at the Oteen Mission hospital, which has 800 tubercular patients. The State Missions report recommends that all churches observe State Mission Day on the fourth Sunday in October, or some other time during the year. The Baptist Training Union report indicated that the Adult Union, which was created in the last few years, makes valuable contributions to the Baptist Training Union.

History reveals that the visible Church of God has periodically tended to decline and degenerate. Think how true that is of the period from Adam to Noah; Noah to Abraham; Abraham to Moses; Moses to Elijah; Elijah to the Captivity; Ezra to Christ; Apostolic Age to the Reformation; Reformation to our own day.

Dr. C. F. W. Walther meant much to his generation. Shortly after his death Dr. F. W. Stellhom wrote: "The Lutheran Church of our country, yea, I may say, of this whole century, owes more to Dr. Walther than to any other single person.'' (Lutherische Kirchenzeitung, June 1, 1887.) The fifty years that have elapsed since his last illness ended his work at the Seminary, on November 3, 1886, have not diminished his influence among us. We have been living on his theology. And the present generation cannot afford to dispense with it. There is a great blessing in store …

One hundred twenty-five years ago, October 15, 1811, Carl Ferdinand Wilhelm Walther was born at Langenchursdorf, Saxony. His father was a minister. His grandfather and great-grandfather also had been ministers in the Lutheran Church. According to his own confession, Walther, living in a rationalistic age, did not learn to know his Savior until he was eighteen years of age. He studied theology at the University of Leipzig, was graduated there in 1833 and, after having been a private tutor, was ordained in 1837 at Braeunsdorf. Joining the Saxon emigrants under Stephan, Walther arrived in St. Louis in 1830. Shortly afterwards …

Chile Pentecostal (1934–1936)
The three stages of down-town metropolitan real estate: the brick store, the steel and concrete sky-scraper, the parking lot, fitly describe the history of the comparative study of religion. The foundation was laid in philology when Max Mueller together with many a less brilliant, but more profound student of language developed the imposing structure of the science of religion on the basis of etymological study. The structure was laid low less than fifty years later, and on its place was erected the colossal pile of the anthropological study of religion, based on the evolutionary theory. The reconstruction of Old Testament …
