WE RARELY commission articles but are content for the most part to select what appears most suitable to our needs from the more than sufficient number that drop unsolicited on our desk. From time to time we have remarked that our yearly Summer Literary Number appears to attract a preponderance of writers devoted to the American literary scene. Articles on British writers have been far scantier, on Continental European writers almost non-existent. Nexus Literary Journal

Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

"Presentational Immediacy" In The Poetry Of James Dickey, Lethiel C. Parson

The thesis explores the "presentational immediacy" of the poetry of James Dickey. "Presentational immediacy" is a phrase used by the poet, himself, to describe his attempt to provide a verbal equivalent of an intense experience. He also defines the phrase in stating that his aim is to effect spontaneity and reader involvement in the experience of the poems. This is a relatively difficult objective to accomplish. However, as is shown in the study of the poems in Chapter V, Dickey's handling of the general diction and imagery of the poems does fulfill his objective of presenting an experience in a …

Pax Americana, presents a complex, multi-part allegorical poem that explores themes of war, guilt, and the human condition through a structure inspired by classic epic journeys. The first section, titled The Guerre, follows a narrator thrust into the Vietnam War, which he initially views as a personal quest to prove his worth to a demanding lover named Laura. The battlefield is depicted as a landscape of existential despair and physical agony, where soldiers encounter horrors like gas-induced blindness and napalm burns. The narrative critiques the detached leadership of generals and politicians while characterizing the war as a cyclical, internal conflict …

The Jesse Stuart Collection consists primarily of magazines given by Mr. Stuart which contain articles, stories, or poems written by him or about him. Approximately half of these items are in the original publication; the others are photoreproductions of originals lent by Mr. Stuart.

Another significant part of the collection was purchased from International Bookfinders, Inc., of Pacific Palisades, California, and includes first editions of Mr. Stuart’s works, galley proofs, and some manuscript material.
