Selama 7 tahun terakhir, Tiongkok sedang menghadapi penurunan angka kelahiran yang cukup signifikan. Pada tahun 2023, Tiongkok tidak lagi menduduki peringkat sebagai negara dengan populasi terbesar di dunia. Mengamati keseriusan masalah ini, peneliti tertarik untuk menyelidiki faktor-faktor yang menyebabkan penurunan angka kelahiran yang signifikan di Tiongkok dari 2017 hingga 2023. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi pengaruh kebijakan pemerintah, perubahan sosial budaya, dan faktor ekonomi terhadap tren kelahiran dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan kuantitatif dari data sekunder seperti lembaga pemerintah, laporan statistik, kajian literatur, dan laporan berita. Pada prakiraan cuaca musim dingin Belanda oleh media Weeronline, terdapat variasi adjektiva bermakna ‘suhu rendah’ untuk menggambarkan kondisi musim dingin, yang seringkali menimbulkan pengertian serupa antara satu dan lainnya. Dengan korpus berupa prakiraan cuaca musim dingin 2023/2024 oleh Weeronline, penelitian ini menelaah komponen makna serta relasi makna pada adjektiva bermedan makna ‘suhu rendah’. Penelitian ini bertujuan memberikan paparan untuk memperjelas adjektiva beranah ‘suhu rendah’. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis deskriptif kualitatif. This research investigates the translation of archaisms, particularly here-words and there-words, from English to Indonesian, highlighting the unique challenges they present. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the study is framed by the Skopos theory and ISO 24495-1:2023 - Plain Language principles. The Skopos theory stresses the translation's intended purpose, advocating a functional approach that enhances the target text's communicative efficacy. ISO 24495-1:2023 ensures legal documents are clear, concise, and accessible, maintaining their legal integrity. The research examines a bilingual English-Indonesian contractual document, the Global Master Repurchase Agreement, to analyze the translation of these archaic terms. In Indonesia, suicide research has largely overlooked structural factors at the meso and macro levels, whether as primary causes, contributing factors, or considerations for prevention strategies. The dominance of psychological and psychiatric approaches has marginalized sociological perspectives, limiting a more holistic understanding of suicide. Existing heuristic models primarily frame suicide as a consequence of mental health disorders or economic conditions, reinforcing a dichotomy: one perspective views suicide as a psychological and/or psychiatric phenomenon, while the other treats it as a sociological fact. This article examines Tek Seng Bio (德圣庙) Temple within the context of the temple as the symbol of local history among Chinese Indonesians in Cikarang. Established in 1900 by Tjio Lo Weh (蒋維内) from Fujian, the temple marked the inception of a Chinese settlement in North Cikarang. Unique in its devotion to Lín Tài Shī Gōng/Liem Tay Soe Kong (林太师公) as their main deity, Tek Seng Bio Temple originally functioned as a private familial place of worship. Recently, social media like Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook have been widely used for tourism destination attractiveness. The research investigates how to create a tourism destination image on Instagram from a social semiotic perspective. Data comprises 17 photos of Blue Flame posted by 7 Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs). Currently, Large Language Models (LLMs) based on the Generative Pre-trained Transformer architecture have made breakthroughs in multilingual language processing tasks and performed similar language processing capabilities to humans. However, their performance in dealing with tasks involving reasoning, especially logical reasoning, show significant shortcomings. In this paper, we argue that logical reasoning competence requires a certain type of representation acquisition capability. Adaptations and adjustments to current environmental conditions are manifest in behavioral norms. Knowing norms facilitates population-level prediction, but doesn’t predict individual behavior where idiosyncrasies might trigger “butterfly effects." Knowledge of individual quirks is particularly important for risk assessment and management during close encounters between humans and potentially lethal wildlife, including bears (Ursus spp.). Innovative foraging techniques can alter population vigor and viability. Traits at the tails of a bell curve might hold the greatest potential for adapting to environmental change.

Symmetry is not an inherent characteristic of mathematical proofs; instead, it is a property that arbitrarily manifests in different modes of presentation. This arbitrariness leads to the conclusion that symmetry cannot be part of the defining or essential properties that characterize proofs. Consequently, contrary to some authors’ claims, symmetry does not significantly contribute to the validity, accuracy, or soundness of mathematical proofs. What is more, it does not even play any critical role in heuristic aspects such as explanatory power. The examples developed in this paper constitute compelling evidence supporting these claims.

This paper demonstrates the use of contemplation and arts-based research (ABR) to explore intersubjectivity between myself and other opaque beings. Through a walking meditation, I experience an affective encounter with a plywood board found lying on a beach. The board radiates agency and mysterious stories about its passage through the world. Drawing on philosopher Tim Lilburn’s concept of permeable attention and Bennett’s theory of vibrant matter, I discover the storied nature of the damaged board and resonances between its stories and my own. The denigration of the body is a common feature of Western religions, but its origins can be traced back to Plato. His teacher, Socrates, proposed a separation of body and soul, but careful reading of Plato's Dialogues suggest Plato took a particularly negative view of the body compared to his predecessor. Analyzing the effects of the Peloponnesian War on Plato's life and society, this article looks at reasons Plato may have had a developed an unfavorable view toward the body by comparing "war bodies" with "intellectual bodies," and discussing the impact democracy had on Plato's worldview.

Immanuel Kant continues to be one of the most influential thinkers in the history of philosophy. His thought shapes much of contemporary culture and has dramatically influenced Christian philosophy and theology. While some of this influence is beneficial, there are components of Kantian thought – especially as it pertains to the capabilities of human reason to arrive at true knowledge of God – that are decidedly problematic. In late November of 2022, faculty continuing to navigate the considerable teaching and research challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic were confronted with another existential problem: the juggernaut known as ChatGPT. This article will examine the academy’s response to this sudden intrusion of Large Language Models (LLMs) into classrooms, workplaces, and daily life, with a focus on interrogating the responsibility of and to instructors of first-year composition. Evolutionary, game-theoretic approaches to justice and the social contract have become increasingly popular in contemporary moral and political philosophy.
