Muhlenberg County Heritage
“The Muhlenberg County [Kentucky] Heritage” was published four times a year by the Muhlenberg County Genealogical Society in Greenville, Kentucky, from 1978 to 2001. The cover title sometimes appears as “The Heritage.” The publication’s purpose was to support the society and to publish information about the genealogy, culture, and history of Muhlenberg County. A separate annual index was printed each year for volumes 1-14. Afterwards, each issue was indexed separately. Generally, the index is to surnames only.

Mary Carrick, Country School Legacy: Humanities On The Frontier
Oral Histories
Mary Carrick talks about her young years going to District 3 country schoolhouse just three miles outside of Chadron, Nebraska. The school was one room and had one teacher that changed almost every year. Mary was the only one in her grade until more joined her in the upper grades. Everyone at the school got along, and built a great community that never got into too much trouble. Mary spends her time in her interview discussing her fond and positive memories of school functions and festivals and wishes for them to be preserved. She recognizes that student with “special problems”, …

The year of the Maine Folklife Survey is drawing to a close at the end of January. We are in the wrap-up phase, having completed fieldwork in October. Six field workers visited some 300 homes throughout the State, and worked in some 130 townships in every county over the summer, gathering information of all kinds from axe handle making to step dancing to baking bean-hole beans. People have been marvelously friendly, have understood why we were gathering traditional materials, and certainly have been helpful. Though we have felt stretched thin on budget and time to get to see and meet …
