The Cause Of Sobriety : David Lloyd George And Temperance Reform, Philip A. Krinsky
The Cause Of Sobriety : David Lloyd George And Temperance Reform, Philip A. Krinsky
Honors Theses
Temperance was a major British issue after World War I. Excessive drunkenness, not alcoholism per se, was the primary concern of the two parliamentary parties. When Lloyd George enter Parliament the two major parties were the Liberals and the Conservatives. Temperance was neither a problem that Parliament sought to quickly solve nor the single issue of Lloyd George's public career. Rather, temperance remained within a flux of political squabbling between the two parties and even among the respective blocs within each Party. Inevitably, compromises had to be made between the dissenting factions.
British Reaction To German Foreign Policy, January 1933 To June 1936, Nigel J. Cox
British Reaction To German Foreign Policy, January 1933 To June 1936, Nigel J. Cox

In Chapter I, I deal with three broad ideas by way of introduction. First, there is an analysis of those groups which are acting and reacting in the sphere of foreign policy. There are four groups enumerated: the governmental or official group; the parliamentary group; the press; and, finally, public opinion. The make-up of these groups, the sources for discovering their reactions, and the …

This study examines the internal political scene of Israel and its affect on the overall Middle East situation. It focuses on ideology, structure, and policy within Israel as components of that scene.
The ideology of Zionism provided the justification for the creation of Israel and continues to form the basis for governmental decision making there. An analysis of the principles of Zionism and of the statements, writings, and actions of Zionist leaders showed that the ideology could reasonably be interpreted as racist and …

Intimacy And Human Sexuality : A Challenge To The Consensus On Contraception., Lawrence Porter
Intimacy And Human Sexuality : A Challenge To The Consensus On Contraception., Lawrence Porter
Rev. Lawrence B. Porter, Ph.D
This essay expands upon the existentialist analysis of contemporary American sexual mores presented in Rollo May's Love and Will (1969), specifically the section of that work entitled "Contraceptives and the tragic". The author accepts May's analysis of the ambiguous psychological effects of artificial contraception--an increase in ambivalence and anxiety as well as freedom and choice--and argues that the massive popular response of Catholics to artificial contraception is based upon a failure to recognize the subtly ambiguous character of artificial contraception. Moreover, in the light of the religious value Catholicism places upon marriage as a sacramental reality, the author argues: the …
