Winona Campus Life, Mass Communication Department

Winona Campus Life

Winona Campus Life was a weekly laboratory newspaper produced by the WSU Mass Communciation Department students and printed as a supplement to the Sunday Winona Daily News, which began in September 1983. The newspaper provided coverage of the four institutions of higher education in Winona: Winona State University, St. Mary's University, College of Saint Teresa, and Winona Area Vocational-Technical School. It was created to provide a place for Mass Communcation students to publish their articles and photographs with the idea of generating reader feedback, which is essential in journalism education.

The University And The Rage Of The Middle Class (Text Only), Paul Bushnell May 1994

The University And The Rage Of The Middle Class (Text Only), Paul Bushnell

Honorees for Teaching Excellence

When I speak of the rage of the middle class I do not mean to imply that it is the exclusive possession of the middle class and certainly not that it is shared by every middle class person in the United States. But the middle class has a great deal of power as an organizing class in our society - it votes in greater numbers, it expresses its views in public - calls in to talk shows, writes more letters to editors, pressures Congress.

The Feminine Ethos And Higher Education Administration, Mary Anne Nolan Hanner

All-Inclusive List of Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study was to determine if women administrators in higher education possess leadership characteristics consistent with those described in the feminist literature. The study identified seventeen characteristics in three categories: leadership style characteristics, decision making strategies, and conflict resolution strategies which were incorporated into a iii research survey. The degree to which women administrators in higher education possessed these characteristics was compared to their years of experience (five or less years or more than five years) and the administrative structure of their unit (heterarchical or hierarchical). The population was women administrators in higher education who held the …

Camp Depression: An Era Of Hope And Opportunity At The University Of North Dakota, University Of North Dakota

UND Publications

Camp Depression opened October 21, 1933, at the University of North Dakota. It was designed to create low-cost housing for needy, but determined male students who wanted to obtain an education during the Great Depression. The camp consisted of six cabooses that were joined together and remodeled. Four cars were used for sleeping, a fifth was a combination kitchen/washroom, and a sixth was used as a study hall.
