The Salamander was a short-lived student publication released monthly during the 1925-1926 academic year at the Rhode Island School of Design. Beginning in January 1926, contents were printed on both sides of the page, mostly comprised of fictional gossip and humor. The issue of February 1926 included poems, RISD sports news, art exhibitions, a concert at Memorial Hall and hand drawn illustrations.

In this speech, Chapman talked to supporters of the California Christian College about the struggles faced by the school as it was established and lamented the fact that some problems arose from trying to develop the college too quickly.
