"On Saturday mornings, DeeDee goes to the open market to buy clothes for Sra. Paloma. DeeDee lives in a dark brick building on Suffolk St., near Peretz Square, in lower Manhattan. Sra. Paloma lives across from her in a wan green tenement that has been swept by fire. Her walls are charred and blackened with soot, her floors sag from water damage, and her furniture - still soaked from the firemen's hoses - has sprouted mildew. It is rumored around the neighborhood that every morning the Senora scours her …

The People Filed Out One By One From The People Factory , Some Laughing..., Tom Petronio
The Angle
In lieu of an abstract, below is the essay's first paragraph.
"The people filed out one by one from the people factory , some laughing, some crying . Some were bleeding, others following. One man even had a bird on his head. which made the little children laugh and laugh. (What a lark!) The woman with her head screwed on straight kept saying , " I'll call you. I'll call you." and believe it or not, she never did , which made the men feel very small indeed."
