Harnessing Ireland’S Food Heritage – The Role Of The Artisan Food Producer In Ireland’S Food Tourism Offering, Margaret Connolly, Rebecca O'Flynn

European Journal of Food Drink and Society

This research paper examines the role of the artisan food producer, not just as an entrepreneur and service provider but with a focus on how they contribute to the preservation of Ireland’s food culture and heritage. Using a qualitative methodology and in keeping with a phenomenological approach, in-depth interviews were conducted with a purposeful sample of ten artisan food producers from different parts of Ireland. A thematic analysis of the responses was carried out, with a desire to let the voice of the artisans themselves tell their story. Previous studies have found that professionalism is an important success factor for chefs. Yet, research on what professionalism “means” to chefs, and how they “make sense” of it, is currently underexplored. While there is some evidence of the significance of the traditional chef’s uniform in professional identity formation, it also needs further consideration. Culinary arts lecturers and chefs have already contributed to these discussions, but the student voice remains largely unknown. Dr. Harold Walter Hargis (1925-2015), a distinguished oral and maxillofacial surgeon, was born in Bluefield, West Virginia on June 11, 1925. His parents were Thomas and Mary Clare Hargis. Dr. Hargis made significant contributions to the field of dentistry.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and subsequently pursued his education, earning a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts from Howard University in 1951 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the same institution in 1955. During his time at Howard, he met his wife, Mary Frances Diggs, and joined the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.

The arts have long been tools used to prop up political visions, and Japan’s traditional crafts are no exception to this trend. Japanese ceramics in particular have enjoyed, or perhaps endured, era after era of patronage by successive governments and movements over their more than a millennium of history. Appropriated by a wave of nationalism in the Meiji period, the rokkoyō (six ancient kilns), long famous for their rustic style and acclaimed tea wares, were converted along with many other traditional crafts into symbols of the Japanese national spirit. This paper analyzes the effects of power through point of view in product placement, specifically through automotive advertising. Early settlements turned to booming businesses as locals took advantage of local coal and iron deposits to build the rail industry. This growth, furthered by the geographic advantages of the city, made Scranton the perfect place for a new business venture. In 1891, the English Nottingham Lace Firm was looking to expand business, eventually settling on Northeastern Pennsylvania. Many photographers don’t realize their ability and opportunity to give back and make a difference. I believe photography extends beyond taking a series of photographs. For me, it is my way of serving others, connecting with people, and sharing their stories. I believe photography is a powerful tool to inspire change in communities—especially in those that are underserved. Timing, a critical aspect in social contexts and human cognition, has been extensively studied across diverse fields, such as biology, neuroscience, and business. However, there is a lack of interdisciplinary approaches that offer fresh perspectives on how timing works. Music performance, being inherently temporal in nature, presents a unique opportunity to bridge this gap and explore timing mechanisms in a multifaceted context. High levels of gender inequity remain in finance leadership positions. This research is interested in the factors that facilitate female leadership in finance roles as opposed to the challenges women face in this industry. Through semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis, this paper explores the education, career development, organizational practices, professional support networks, and personal factors of successful women in finance. Commonalities among interviewee’s responses suggest that capabilities, one’s perspective on their career, personal support and domestic responsibility, and workplace relationships play a role in the success of the women in our sample. Long before faux furs became trendy, vegan-friendly materials, weavers and textile designers in eighteenth and nineteenth century Europe developed a range of woven goods that offered the haptic qualities of animal pelts. Surprisingly, given their popularity, little research has focused on imitation fur production and consumption at the turn of the twentieth century and its earlier roots. This paper traces the strands linking a group of textile samples donated by New York merchant H. Herrman, Sternbach & Co. in 1884 to (what is today) the Smithsonian National Museum of American History through connecting threads of global production, innovation, and consumption. …
