Nexus Literary Journal

Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

An Investigation Of The Structural Qualities Of Certain Technical Elements In A Series Of Oil Paintings Related To The Figure, Gretchen Hartsock Teague

The purpose of this study is (1) to investigate structural qualities of certain technical elements of oil painting, (2) to apply these qualities and means to a series of oil paintings related to the figure, (3) to evaluate the quality of structure achieved by these means, and (4) to arrive at conclusions and suggestions for future modifications of the candidate's paintings techniques.

Landscape And Figure Composition In Relation To Space, Color, And Line, Perry Theo Carandanis

The thesis is an empirical analysis of eight paintings in which the problems to be examined are the relationships of the expressive visual elements of composition with the subject matter. An attempt will be made to examine some specific problems encountered with individual works, which will include emotional involvement as well as aesthetic, and arrive at some generalizations. The paintings selected to comprise this thesis are four figure compositions and three landscapes. The medium used to execute the paintings is Acrylic-Polymer, a Hyplar Product, and they are painted on Upsom Board, for which considerations are given.

A Creative Project In Printmaking Dealing With The Production Of A Series Of Original Prints Using Multiple Plates Printed In Relief And Intaglio Techniques, Gregory Wallace Hawkins

It was the purpose of this study to explore and develop technical and aesthetic possibilities resulting from the use of multiple plates in printmaking: 1. by relating the content of separate plates through the combination of shape, color and implied narrative qualities; 2. by developing the contour of the total composition as a secondary visual effect of the multiple plates with no limitation as to media, material, or color within the production of the print.

Visual And Expressive Form Qualities Attainable In Thrown Pottery Vessels By Use Of Various Lips And Feet, Kirby William Benson

It was the purpose of this study to discover the number of various form qualities that it is possible to achieve within pottery vessels that are closely related by similar feet, bodies, and lips. The variety of form qualities sought for were of a visual nature; the entire pot seeming to appear more or less vertical or more or less horizontal than others with the same type of body but with different shapes of lips and feet selected to be used.
