No. 0 was drawn before issue no. 1 but published afterwards and numbered no. 0 to preserve the correct sequence. Zap Comics written and illustrated by Robert Crumb, S. Clay Wilson, Victor Moscoso, Rick Griffin, Gilbert Shelton, Spain Rodriguez, Robert Williams, Paul Mavrides. Nexus is a magazine that began as an insert in the Wright State Guardian student newspaper in 1965 and has since been published semi-regularly. It began only accepting creative writing, but has since expanded to include illustrations, photography and other non-written art forms. Today, it is published in a digital format and accepts submissions from around the country, though it maintains its commitment to the Wright State Community.

Faust In His Study: The Paradox Of Visual Representations And Poetic Possibilities, Donna Ramsey

Institute for the Humanities Theses

The Faust theme has inspired individuals to creative endeavors over the years. While many of the resulting literary works are widely recognized and highly valued, few of the pictorial efforts have been similarly acknowledged. This investigation treats this apparent paradox as it applies to the soliloquy in the first scene of Part I of Goethe's poetic drama. The first part of the study compares the written word with its graphic interpretation, utilizing twenty-seven portrayals of Faust in his Study. The second section traces the iconography of the scene in a broader context, using twenty-eight prototypes which correspond to the depictions. …

Empathetic Reactions Derived Through Abstract Sculptured Forms, Bruce Frederick Literal

Dissertations and Theses

This thesis project consists of sixteen abstract sculptures. The material most often used is polyester resin. The work explores the emotive potential of the relationship between the organic forms and geometric spaces. The forms are derived from observing the environment, other current artists' works, and the works of art history.

The sculptures generally divide into three groups. The first is composed of geometric and organic forms that are altered slightly so that aspects of each form reside in its opposite. The second group maintains a purity of organic and geometric elements. Here a balance is kept by weighing the visual …
